I am relatively new to this game and i am playing chaos marines. my question is in regards to the arhiman and demon prince psykers. In the rule book it says 1 power a turn. both arhiman and the dp have the ability to use warp time which can be used at start of opponents turn. can i then use it at my turn or does it last the entire game turn (both players). also i was told that even though the dp can use 2 shooting attacks a turn and these can be psychic shooters according to the errata that the warptime doesnt work this way since its not shooting attack. Can you guys help clarrifgy some of this mess for me.

Turn = player turn, unless otherwise stated.
So you can use ONE power per PLAYER turn.
So you can cast warptime in both player turns.

ok thanks does that mean that a DP with MoT can use warptime each players turn and then use the winds of chaos template attack on my turn also?

Yes, the Mark of Tzeentch allows you to use 2 psychic powers a turn. Ahriman's staff allows him to use three powers.

In order to buy two powers you'd have to have the Mark of Tzeentch which also allows you to use two powers per player turn.
But that's a special case, the section on psykers in the main rulebook says one power per player turn. If the other player(s) are as new as you and only know those rules it's nothing odd that they protest. In the end it's your responsibility to know how your army and model special stuff works. You should know what parts of the rulebook and your codex are needed if someone doubts your claims- maybe even note down the pages after the Prince's statline on your army list.

They did hide away that MoT allows you to use two powers a turn (so 4 per game turn) quite neatly, but it is there.
