Okay here is something different. It is more about the models and not the codex but perhaps the fluff in the codex may shine some light on this.

So what’s the deal with the mysterious four eyed alien skull that has appeared on several dark eldar sprues? I have never seen this skull before, so is there a chance that this could be a hidden easter egg that may point to a future release? Perhaps a new race? An allied race that may show up along side the Kroot and Vespids in the next Tau release?

So far I have found it on both of the kits that I have purchased. It is on the raider sprue spiked on a spear like the Kroot Skull and is also on the Hekatrix backpiece found in the Dark Eldar Wyches kit.

Care to speculate?

Gw's skull sculpters threatened a walk out unless they could sculpt more interesting bone work, this is the result.

I shouldn't read too much into it, its just a skull, apparently there are plenty just lying around in the 40k universe.

Think its probably a trophy or something. Like in the HQ IG sprue, you get a floating skull thing, just for fun! Its so you can go mad with modeling I believe.

Either that, or it was an arena beast that the DE took down in combat (like lion v christian - YES, I KNOW THEY DIDN'T DO THAT. It's a comparison, get over it.)
