Possessed Khorne Marine Covered in Spikes

I have finally given in to the temptation to do a nice shiny paintjob on one of my figures! After painting so many guard troops to a tabletop level I need something to cut loose on, and decided on an enginseer I have had for a while.
My army is largely desert themed, so I wanted to paint my enginseer in something more muted than bright red so he doesn't stand out like a sore thumb, but I still want to retain a canon mechanicus feel. I decided on an off-white cloth with red cog pattern and a brass body. I will be trying NMM again on the metal for this one... (gulp!)

When I opened the blister the figure was awful! Loads of flash, a hideous, really badly 'stepped' mold line on every part and lots of excess metal to trim off. Luckily I have some little files that were up to the task and I *hope* I have managed to make all the mold lines disappear, although it has cost me some detail.

On with the cloth first of all. Bleached bone I reckon.

Shaded with a mix with progressively more khemri brown, then highlighted with skull white added. Watered down gryph sepia wash to smooth the colour transitions. Camera doesn't do the colour transition justice but I'm sure you get the idea.

On with the detail! Mechrite red base, baal red wash and blood red highlights for the cog teeth so far. I will lighten this up further for highlights on the raised edges, but I've had too much coffee today to trust myself with anything finer than what I've done! A bit of cleaning up to do here and there, but overall I'm pleased so far.

Hmm, I wonder if I can put some sort of devotional script on the figure, like I did on one of my Russ's?

I will have to do a test I think on a spare figure, see what the script on the cloth looks like.

Also I think I have found my base for the figure

Correct. Despite countless millennia of evolution, technological advances and civilization, we're still monkeys throwing feces at things we don't like.-Zed.
