OK..I love Epic and am getting into BFG..But part of me wonders if GW shouldn't do something with specialist games other than hoping they'll go away.
My personal thought is that they should allow other companies to sell/develop them under liscence (I know thats not spelt correctly..'scuse me.. ). GW is then rid of them (as they seem to want to be..) and we get to enjoy them and perhaps expose them to others.
My feeling, however, is that they will just whither and die
So, what do you think (if anything) should be done with specialist games?? Left as they are?? Totally re-released?? Special editions?? Completely "squatted"??

I'm in agreement with you that if they don't have the resources to support them they should outsource the license to another company. The RPG license seems to be working moderately well.

Forgeworld took semi-charge of the Epic scene, or at least developed a spinoff in the form of Aeronautics Imperialis. They're also supplying the new models for Epic nowadays.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.
When I'm editing alot, you know I have a gakload of homework to (not) do. |

EXACTLY...so if a company took them over and made them available, and took over the development of rules, models etc, evryone would be a winner, right??
Looking at the FW site, they seem to have VERY lttle Epic stuff; seems to have been largely shelved in favour of their own game. They DO have some nice stuff for BFG though.

BFG rules can be gotten for free from GW site as multiple PDF's..Models can be got from GW or Ebay (or, if you're a jammy git like me, from a mate who's having a clearout..)

Sell the IP to company that would give a gak about them. Impact for Blood Bowl jumps to mind, that way maybe the Flesh Golem wouldn't be the only good looking madel on the Necro team.

Bob: Outrageous, How dare he say such blasphemy. I've got to do something.
Man #1: Bob, there's nothing you can do.
Bob: Well, I guess I'll just have to develop a sense of humor. |

Epic is a potential land-mine for GW if the company sells it off. Epic is tied too closely to 40K. Things added to Epic by the new company could end up inadvertently contradicting the 40K fluff, causing issues down the road.
While something similar could happen with the RPG, the scope isn't quite the same and it's easier to handle damage control for the RPGs in the event that something along those lines takes place.
BFG might have a similar problem.
