Hey all, I posted a while back about this project and it's finally online for all your eyes to see.

I've been working on this FanDex for the better part of 2010 and I've hit the point where I need the community's help in getting the rest of it ironed out. If you know of, like, wish to playtest or don't even know the Adeptus Mechanicus I encourage you to head over to my blog to download it.

Here's the link: http://themagnetpro.blogspot.com/2010/11/admech-fandex-is-here.html

Later days.

Well, my first request is to put it in browser and not require a download

If I get a chance when I get home and can download stuff, I'll check it out.

Well that was the most overpowered codex I have ever read in my life. As if including a warhound wasn't bad enough (no reason not to take two double turbo lasers for 4 large SD templates), 60pt chimeras at AV 13/11/11 that can take missile launchers, troops choices that can take 5 melta guns in a squad (and come in the super chimeras), stubbon super-space marines that can all take flamers (and come in the super chimeras) and a special rule that simply wins you the game on a 4+.

That last one really takes the cake. +D3 objectives or kill points if you stand next to it for a turn? Thats no problem, all of my transports are as hard as predators, cost as much as naked raiders and are backed up by a model that autokills/penetrates at least two units a turn.

Honestly, it's like you've taken mech IG and thought "Hmm winning most of the games with loads of vehicles isn't good enough, lets make an army that wins every game every single time no matter what."

This is actually so unbalanced it's maddening.

If we were to play each other in a tournament, not only would I table you, I would murder you, your family, every woman you ever loved and burn down your house. I mean, what's the point in winning if you allow people that don't take the game seriously to live?

I feel that the best elements of C:SM and C:IG were mixed together with some AdMech fluff to produce a very overpowered fandex. Take a bunch of super chimeras (where missile launchers are 5pts and autocannons are 15pts!?), throw in a bunch of super veterans (minus the BS 4, but with five [5!] special weapons), take some space mar-err...skitarii in more super chimeras, and take a warhound. Done, 2500 pts of unbeatable doom.

In all seriousness, I find the codex to be very overpowered while not distinguishing itself from IG and Space Marines in any significant manner. As much as I would love an AdMech codex, this is not that codex.

I realize point costs on most everything in the codex is low, that is not a permanent state. Point costs are reduced for the first version so when creating a list you can fit in as many different units as possible. In this first phase I'm trying to see if you guys can break any of my own rules/wargear or if some rules flat out don't work due to another unit's rules, etc. I do like that Dakka is the first and only set of responses about point costs so far (and I'm not surprised by this =P), but don't get too carried away with it at this point.

Thanks for the responses everyone, keep 'em coming!

I'm actually not sure how to go about that. Let me see if I can get something going on Scribd.com.

personally i think it's a brilliant dex, however Skitarii are still just human forces not astartes strength. Praetorians on the other hand are the elitist force within the mechanicum, grown from oygrns

People should relax about the titan, just like the cultus codex the titans will be moved to an apoc section =P

Wow. This is a rather complete fandex. But, I'd call this a very rough draft.

Tone things down. Tone them down a ton.

The Rune Priest is absolutely ridiculous. 3 Powers a turn with unlimited range? And a Str 5 Ap2 template weapon that causes ID (while avoiding EW) on every model wounded?

Drop the whole +1AV on all my tanks rule.

Either re-work Tech Quest so that your opponent gets to pick the target and you loose KP/Objectives for not taking it, or remove it entirely.

And, drop the Titan. That's WAY too OP for a non-apoc game.

But, he has a specific rule saying you can use it in non-apoc games.

ah I must have missed that.

I'm working on some proposed changes, waiting on his feedback, but I don't disagree with you

Yeah, you have to pull the titan out. I'm not going to get into the argument of whether or not it is balanced or not, the important thing is if you have a unit with THREE pages of special rules just to govern that unit, it should not be in your 'dex.

Okay everyone, v2.0 of beta testing is out now. Point costs have been set to normal standards and a lot of units have been added/removed and should have a completely new feel overall. More info and downloads at:
