Hallo Dakkadits
As any Orkish player have thought of when reading the codex. Is making a looted Verichle! There is so meany awesome tanks from Imperial Guard to Space Marines i even heard that not even the Tyranid Carnifex is save from our beloved lootas fingers!
But what i want to know is. Can i take a looted verichle and call it a Battle Wagon instead?. Last week i bought my first Battle Wagon and i must say it's rather expensive i mean $62 is some money. But i have been thinking on maby buying a Space Marine Vindicator as it is cheaper and more fun to have something different and make it more Orkish and call it a Battle Wagon! Can i do that? And can i use that in Tournaments also or will it always be considered a Looted Wagon?
Later i wanna buy a Space Marine Predator as a looted Wagon as it already got a big ass canon on top so it already got a Boomgun attached
The reason i want all the tanks to be Space Marie is that my friend who i started this with is playing Space Marines and i think he would hate watching the Emperor's Machines in the hand of Orks!

The line between a large Looted Wagon and a small battle Fortress is debatable. Try and make it as large as possible with the kit, preferably at least to the size of a Battle Wagon. There should be enough parts in a kit if you can get creative.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

Take a chimera and call it a trukk.
Take a Leman Russ and call it a Battlewagon.
Conversion would be better of course, but really, you can take any vehicle in 40k and counts as any appropriately sized/armored ork vehicle.

You want to know what my Battlewagon is? It's a Land Raider with the sponsons ripped off, a new howdah on top and a completely new engine block.
You want to do something like that? Go for it. Just remember to make it look orky.

A couple of my Dreads are converted SM dreads bought from a friend, with SM symbolry replaced with Ork ones. I plan on getting the brass Ork stuff actually, from Forgeworld.

My first Battle Wagon (many years ago) was a heavily converted Land Raider.
I see absolutely no reason why you couldn't convert a Vindicator and call it your Battle Wagon, just make sure to ork it up properly, and bulk it out enough so it's big enough.

So it all comes down to size? Is there a way to see how big the different tanks are for Imperial Guards and Space Marines also? A Website maby?. I Don't have GW shop anywhere near here or even some other LGS who i can ask for help or see the figures in full scale.
For if i could use a Vindicator it would be nice but if it's way too small to be a Battle Wagon i would understand. It has to carry 20 Orks
You want to know what my Battlewagon is? It's a Land Raider with the sponsons ripped off, a new howdah on top and a completely new engine block.

I have thought of using a Land Raider myself but the price is the same as the BW and one of the goals here was to make it a bit cheaper but i have really thought of it and it would be awesome!
A couple of my Dreads are converted SM dreads bought from a friend, with SM symbolry replaced with Ork ones. I plan on getting the brass Ork stuff actually, from Forgeworld.
This is my main problem. I had a Dreadnought from the AoBR box and he was ideal to convert to a Deff Dread as i have seen hell of alot of people using that model to convert it to an awesome Deff Dread. But as i am a new to this my Ork Bitz is really small and my skills as a converter is minimal. I don't really have alot of tools for this. And so i am afraid that if i buy an IG Leman Russ or SM Landraider i don't have enough materials to make it orkish enough.
So what do i do?. Any idea how i can make these machines Orkish with some homemade stuff? I have looked at DakkaDakka gallary's under looted Wagon to find a good idea or two but most of the wagons i see is just painetd in another sceam or has Forgeworld bitz to it. And my budget isen't that insanly big that i can get those kits from FW (I am a poor student who lives by eating ketchup and pasta). So help me if you can. Maby with that you have done with your own Looted Verichles

Plasticard is definitely your friend when it comes to "orking" up vehicles inexpensively,I bought a half dozen 12"x7" sheets for under $6 dollars. ( and it can be found cheaper).
With plasticard you can create armour plates,glyphs..basically anything you can conceive of and cut out.

Order some of these if you don't want to carve plasticard.
Seriously, I love FW's etched brass!

Waow! I must say that the ETCHED BRASS SMALL ORK GLYPHS IS AWESOME!!!! Rather cheap and easy to attache Thanks Melissia.
But Plasticard would be good too. As it can help me make my Wagons more orkish with my own skills rather just buying the stuff that is needed. Hehe maby i should just get both

Your best bet for bitz if you can't get hold of those brass glyphs and stuff is to take a Trukk kit, hack it up, and add it to whatever you're converting. It worked for me!

Orks as an army are pretty forgiving when it comes to conversions, as looting is worked into the fluff. If you want to run a conversion as one Ork vehicle or another, match the size and major features somewhat closely and few opponents will have a problem with it.
If you slap some glyphs on a rhino, it'll stand as a looted wagon. If you want to call it a battlewagon instead, you'll want to extend it to BW proportions, make it open-topped, etc. Search around to find the approximate dimensions of a BW, get yourself some plasticard, and start bunging things together. You'll be fine.
PS - Etched brass glyphs are snazzy, but simple glyphs are easy to make from plasticard, if you're trying to save money. Just cut out the basic shapes, glue them to a small square backing, then rough up the edges a bit. Takes a minute each, tops.
