Didn't come up with anything in the search..

So the stormlord counts as open-topped "for the purposes of passengers embarking and disembarking."
1) I take that to only mean that there is no specific access point and that disembarking troops can assault- correct?
2) i) Therefore the bits about embarked troops shooting indiscriminately out of the hull don't apply
ii) That would mean they still have to shoot from the "firing deck," which is located behind the turret. To me this presents somewhat of a problem because it's less precise than a hatch or turret as one finds in other transports. Does one just measure from any bit of the platform? That would mean that the main turret would block LOS and embarked troops couldnt fire forward?
a) But could a stormlord not theoretically transport up to 4 sentinels (for example)? If a sentinel were standing on the firing deck, it would undoubtedly be able to see over the turret (using tlos).

So what do you do? Certainly not lining up tlos of every model you wish to shoot with, but does that mean embarked troops can't shoot forward? That would be unfortunate indeed.

Alright, I'm going to take this bit by bit

Correct, as it is treated as open topped for disembarking/embarking troops can assault.

The best way to do it, is place a single model on the firing deck. If the model stands tall enough to see over the "turret" to the front of the tank, the shooting is good to go. Treat it as a hatch with the added height of the trooper.

Nope, as per the 5th edition rules unless the vehicle has a special rule that counters it (Such as the BA Stormraven), you cannot carry anything but troops.

Lone - Superheavies have their own rules, and they can carry other vehicles for a specific "cost" - walkers are included on the list.

You're right, I didn't check my apocalypse book to make sure. I thought it would specify in the datasheet it could carry the stuff, but it's the other way around. In the datasheet it will specify what it cannot carry.
