In the brb, it says stubborn units ignore all negative leadership modifiers (during morale tests). Does this include negative leadership caused by enemy units (necron Pariahs ect.) during morale tests?

I'd say no, because it doesn't apply a negative modifier exactly, but actually changes your leadership stat to a different number.

neg·a·tive (ng-tv)
adj.
c. Of or relating to a quantity to be subtracted from another.

mod·i·fy (md-f)
v. mod·i·fied, mod·i·fy·ing, mod·i·fies
v.tr.
1. To change in form or character; alter.
2. To make less extreme, severe, or strong: refused to modify her stand on the issue.
3. Grammar To qualify or limit the meaning of. For example, summer modifies day in the phrase a summer day.
4. Linguistics To change (a vowel) by umlaut.
v.intr.
To be or become modified; change.

So changing a stubborn units LD from 9 to 7, that sounds like it is negatively (subtracting) modifying it (changing it) from 9 to 7, therefore fitting the Stubborn USRs description.

Reread Stubborn. It only applies to *Morale* tests.

Edited my post to reflect this. That is not the issue though. The issue is negative modifiers during morale tests and if this affects enemy abilities as well.

I think you'll find the reading of the tenets of YMDC to be quite edifying.

That said, I've seen it argue both ways.

The problem is it all depends on the source of the reduction, and how it's worded.

In the case of a Psyker Battle Squad from IG, you take a penalty to your leadership score based on how many psykers are in the unit. Since you are reducing it by X points, you can ignore this.

In the case of Necron Pariahs where they your decrease your leadership to a set amount instead of lowering it by a set amount. You cannot ignore this one, as you are not taking a penalty to your LD, instead your LD is set at a specific number.

Remember having your leadership set at 7 is not a "negative leadership modifier" per se.

scubasteve - having your leadership replaced is *not* a modifier as the BRB defines it.

its the same sort of deal with Orks and Mob Rule. They can opt to swap their Ld Value for the current number of boys in the Unit.
