Okay so I decided to start Malifeux and I'm going to get the Cult of December Crew box set,
I was also considering expanding it with some December Acolytes

Any thoughts on this? Is there anything I should know about these guys I'm picking? Also so far I am loving Malifeux it looks fun, easy to learn, and it's actually affordable

Also on a side note, my friends are going to be playing Order of the Chimeria, The Witch Hunters Crew, and I might be seeing a friend of mine picking up the Neverborn Bad Dreams box set. Does anyone know anything about these crews that could help me?

With the Rasputina Box set your going to need to pick up 2 Hoar Cat Prides, this will give you a 35 SS crew. She is one of the highest damage potential masters out there. if you want to know specifics, ask specifics.

Its an easy game to learn, but a hard game to master, there is alot more to it then meets the eye.

When asking questions please use the name of the master, not the name of the box...

Order of the Chimeria - Marcus - This is a hard set to win with, I wish your friend luck.

Witch Hunters - Sonnia - Any magic user is going to have a hard time beating her, this entire crew has many ways to shut down any spells you could cast. Any of the guild boxes are easy to win with initally, but against more skillful opponants they are outclassed due to limited abilities.

Bad Dreams - The Dreamer - I feel bad for anyone that plays this crew without the limited edition gencon figure. Lord Chompy Bits looses alot by going down to normal size. Other then that he is a tough master to master but once you do he can do horrible things. Its a hard crew to play right now, the peices that are going to make this a spectacular crew havent released just yet.

The land of cotton.

December Acolytes are Rare 2... you can only have two of them in a crew for Scraps. They have an ability that lets them deploy outside your normal deployment zone that is good for some objectives.

Like Catyrpelius says you'll want a few more models to bring you up to 35 Soul Stones, a common game size. You can play 25 Soul Stone games right out of the box though so don't let not having extras stop you.

I've played one game with Rasputina, and several games before that with Ramos and Pandora.

Rasputina has some of the best offensive magic in the game. Don't let this distract you from her non-damaging spells. There's a reason that Ice Pillars is restricted to one casting per crew per turn.

You'll probably want to add a totem for additional casting potential. The Essence of Power gives a bonus to magic attacks made by the model it links to - an obvious plus. Wendigo has the ability to pick up or destroy corpse counters - very handy when dealing with Ressurectionists. The "Consume the Dead" power is especially useful against Nicodem, as the Mindless Zombies he raises are still considered to be corpse counters.
