Back in the UK and hating it

Since the new codex is out I decided to complete the DE army I bought a while back and rebuilt, using the new models to bring the army up to 1500pts. To do this I wanted to field 6 jetbikes and since I already had 2, I needed another 4. While the new boxed set has 3 bikes in it it almost has enough bits for a 4th and so with a bit of modelling I reckoned I could make another. Here's the progress so far:

I still need to widen the scratch built piece and add the fairings which will cover up the lines of the plastic strip. The jet is going to be made from the tip of my superglue bottle - it's better than it sounds, trust me!

For the rider I plan to use the spare torso from the reaver sprue with the spare backpack from the wych kit and by mixing in the spare wych arms with the reaver ones should be able to get one armed hand and one on the controls. Legs will need to come from a bits seller.

More progress soon.

cool look. could you show a pic with a figure in it for comparison? will look good when painted. the gluebottle tip is a good choice. have seen and done such things in the past a lot!

Bit more work done, fairings added and rear sail, now to add the second layer of greenstuff, and as requested there's now a rider to show this is the same size as the normal bike.

Mostly done now, just have to add some extra blades on the back and then put the gun under the nose. The gun will be a spare splinter rifle from the Reaver box mounted on a piece of plastic card.

Looking good.

Consider the idea stolen (which is really the highest form of flattery ).

Very cool conversion my friend! Personally I can't see why they only included those few spare bits in the kit, it seems rather pointless but I guess they must have had their reasons

Did you just use a regular flying base stem?

Thanks guys, and steal away.

Matt, it is indeed a normal flight stand (the older sort with the pin and not the bobble) which has had the top cut off and a magent glued on. There's another magnet recessed into the bottom of the bike.

I like the way you did the center bit, a bit of plasticard and putty with some spikes for foot rests. I bet it will look just fine next to others.
