I know that most players (at least around here) agree that Black Templars infantry must take a target priority test when firing any weapons, despite the rule no longer existing. The reason for this is the special rule "Kill Them All", which states that: "If a Black Templar Infantry, Jump Infantry or Bike unit shoots in the Shooting phase, it suffers a -1 modifier to its Leadership when testing to see if it can target any enemy unit other than the closest." (pg. 23 of C:BT)

My question is, wouldn't the fact that target priority tests no longer exist mean that this rule is null and void, seeing as it affects a rulebook rule that no longer exists?

Locally, we play it that way-- you're getting -1 to a Ld check you never have to make.

The Black Templars FAQ clarifies that the test still applies in this case, as it is a special rule for the army.

As above. While TP tests dont exist in the main rulebook, the codex DOES make you take a test if you want to fire at someone other than the closest enemy.

Yeah.... it sucks.

There are ways to lessen the pain. Taking a Marshal in your army means that everyone will be Ld9 for that test.

It sort of make sense fluff wise as well for the templars, as they just get so caught up in the battle they can lose sight of the bigger picture.
