Hi everyone, Hoping some of you can help me out a tad, i'm part of a group of people who practice the art of Muay thai, and we've always called ourselves Abaddon's Gym, now we're getting the club more officially organised for when we compete and train, we're wanting to devise a logo to represent us, we're slightly changing the name to Abaddon's legion fight club and need a suitable logo, the more historical or obscure the better! so if you've got any images or ideas to help out that would be great!

Since you want to look kick ass and the only president of the United States that was kick ass was Theodore Roosevelt, I suggest using this copyrighted logo here and simply slap your name somwhere unobtrusive.

Well, outside of warhammer, the name Abbadon is ascribed to a demon of hell in Christian mythology, so I'm not sure about it for a name for a martial art tbh, you may give the wrong impression, some also consider the name an alternative to anti-christ.

Legion is the name the demon that Christ exorcised called it's self.

So Abbadon's Legion is a fairly interesting name for a club espousing sportsmanship and honourable fighting.

Thanks mean green, the guys have been called abaddons gym for years and it was named after one of their dogs! i've done a bit of searching myself and saw that abaddon was also lord of the demon grasshoppers! crazy, with the body of winged warhorses the head of humans and scorpion tails, could be a good logo? they're not keen on changing the name so i'll just have to work around what they want.
I know the name is your typical 'tough' club name but we're trying to culturalise it a bit more.
although some of us do fight like the devil when competing! :-)

Oh, I've no doubt it was a harmless name and aquired in such a manner.

Just pointing out that you'll have 2 problems.

1. Folks reading that name and equating it with a 'Cobra Kai' style of aggressive and unpleasant practice and staying away.

2. Certain psychos and dickheads showing up for membership and bringing bad sportsmanship with them. Do you really want those sorts representing your club at a later date.

If it's named after a dog, perhaps a picture of the dog or a cartoon of that dog wearing the muay thai equipment, gloves, shorts, headgear etc in order to lighten the name rather than ancient symbols and very hostile imagery.

Agreed that the image the name portends to are quite hostile, which in this case is still fitting as it is a martial arts and muay thai combat club :-), the members we believe will be the ones we have at the moment (it's fairly underground) and any we deem responsible and or share the spirit of learning the arts will be invited to participate. the idea of an image of the dog in traditional garb would be great as well I may do some mock ups of that as to see how it looks too :-)
Do you know if there was any constellations that represented 'Abaddon' or the bottomless pit he controlled? i'm even searching for old etchings to see depictions of him through the ages

just found out Abaddon in hebrew means place of destruction, kind of fitting for a martial arts gym!

I would avoid the words "fight club" in the actual title as well. Just stick with Gym or Dojo. If all your members (or a great deal of them) are gamers, call it Nerd's Muay Thai Gym (and sports bar).
