Subject: Homebrew Lost and the Damned

Hello
As me and my gaming group have recently taken Warhammer 40k up again, we've found that the old rules for Lost and the Damned are now invalidated.
As we have a Lost and the Damned player in my gaming group, I've set down to make a homebrew codex for them.
Now I know that there's already been published afew and I know that many would encourage him to just use the old rules, but both of these options are flawed, I have yet to find a homebrew lost and the damned codex that didn't acknowledge that the 40k game designers removed the 'allies' rules for a very valid reason and even with the ally rules it's not really a full codex, no special characters, barely anything that makes the list unique and not just a mashup between Imperial Guard, Chaos Space Marines and Daemons.
Therefore I've begun writing my own codex and I'd very much like some feedback on what I'm doing as I write it...
Regards SgtFreakshow

I just noticed that I'm able to post the codex excerpts as attachments, so I'll be doing that here.
Note that none of these excerpts will be including fluff text as I haven't gotten around that yet, where needed the fluff of special characters will be shortly noted in the description of the excerpt below.
Excerpt I - The Damned
This excerpt includes the troops of the Lost and the Damned codex, including a pair of special character squad leaders. Captain Carnagos is formerly the leader of a warrior lodge within an imperial guard regiment whose blood rituals before battle slowly turned it's attendants into khornate cultists. Pairos the Instigator is an ancient alpha legion sergeant who works independently from the rest of the legion, his speciality is raising and supporting various chaos cults within the imperium.
Excerpt II - Champions of the Lost
This excerpt includes the rules for chaos space marine commanders within the Lost and the Damned. It also includes three special characters to lead the damned host, two of them are original design: Captain Nikanor an Alpha Legion captain leading a specialist chapter within his legion, the Chelydrus Formation and Lord Galvanix a renegade warsmith, exiled from the Iron Warriors. Along with them are the rules for Kor Phaeron, the foster father of Lorgar and the former 1st captain of the Word Bearers Legion, embittered that he never became a true space marine and never ascended to daemonhood like his lord and peers Kor Phaeron now leads the traitorous hordes of the Lost and the Damned. With these three special characters comes the rules to create a Alpha Legion, Iron Warriors or Word Bearers army out of the Lost and the Damned.
Upcoming: Excerpt III - Tainted Engines
The next excerpt will detail just what happens to the engines of the Imperial Guard when their heretical commanders pull them along through the warp and back.

It is intriguing, though your work does make me wonder about the possibility of creating an allied list between the various parts of the Imperium list as a true reflection of the Lost and the Damned, as the fluff seems to make a point that, often times, chapters, planets, and systems can suffer horrible fates with being declared traitorous and heretical, and every attempt is made to annihilate them, based on whims and idiocy. So it could be intriguing to create a list that begins with a cross-Imperium army list that can then be modified, with point values and options, which could put into effect how the Lost become the Damned, so to speak, by delving deeper into Chaos, so a motley collection of renegade Imps, from Guards who lost their homeworld, stalwart Marines, and Inquisitors and fanatics who "loved" the Emperor too much, can be represented, just as much as a gibbering mass of cultists, pseudo demons, and Chaos Space Marines who are only needing to kill some bulls so they can glue on those sweet horns.

i second this idea as well, but good job with the chaos version i highly approve though i feel it's still missing a few things

You could just use the Tyrant's Legion list from IA9.
