Good Morning Dakka,

Is the IG Hydra Flak Tank allowed to play in standard games? (i.e. non-apoc games) We are having tourney soon and want some clarification.

Thanks!

'Waves hand' This isn't the user you are looking for.

Hi

It is allowed, as it is in the imperial guard codex.

Bye

Yes, it is in the Normal IG Codex (5th ed, so current one) now.

It lacks the AA mount of the IA version, but it does cost a buttload less points...

All non-superheavy vehicles are "allowed" to play in standard non-apoc games.

However, most tournaments will specify which books and army lists are legal, usually current Codexes only.

The Hydra is in the current Imperial Guard codex.

What gun options are allowed in the IG codex version?

Hull heavy flamer and the usual pintle weapons. If you're going to be organising a tournament you really need to be familiar with the contents of the current codexes.

I dont think he's organising it. I think he's just participating. Or even just helping out. COuld be wrong though.

I'm not organizing the tourney. I got to play this IG list last night and was not familiar with the Hydra. I could not find it on the GW site and only saw it on the FW site. I'm trying to better understand the weapon to have better chance in the tourney since this team has run the table before in our last tourney.

Luckily I only was watching the carnage!

Crrently there is no GW main model for it, but one is likely on its way.

Remember it has *2* TL-Autocannons, so you need *2* weapon destroyed to totally remove the autocannon love in.

Even if you're just playing, you should make a read through of all the codexes a priority - beg & borrow until you've given all of them a good read!

The Apoc version of the vehicle has different special rules and weapon profile, also the point cost is different. In regular games, use the codex rules, in other games make sure to apply the apoc rules and point costs.

still kinda on topic, but wouldnt it make sense if the hydra could always fire both autocannons, even if it moved? it just makes more logical sense to me...since its supposed to represent a quadlinked AA gun...

Please visit my Trade Thread I'm always looking for something and usually have something up for trade.

Yes, yes it would. But it isn't so we have to deal with it. If your want mobile autocannons with no reduction in firepower, then the Exterminator or Sentinels are really the only choice.

AA guns don't generally fire on the move.

I never realized that the "main gun" is actually 2 separate guns until this thread. I would have messed that up if I owned a Hydra, lol.

I see this is a common mistake.

People don't bother looking at both entries for it and fail to see the "TWO twin-linked hydra autocannons" entry.
