Now, this in regards to the rules and the new FAQ they just released for the 5th Ed. In one of the FAQs answered, it reads:

Q: If only some of the models in a unit have the Stealth
special rule, does the whole unit benefit from the +1 cover
save? (p76)

A: Yes. In effect the ones with the Stealth special rule
ensure their colleagues also find good places to hide.

So if I was to take 10 scouts and add Telion as the sergeant, does that mean all the other scouts in that squad don't need camo cloaks? If it does, this just gave 30pts back to sniper scouts

Yeah. Its really always worked this way, but most people didn't play it like that.

Keep in mind though, there is a benefit to buying everyone cloaks: if Telion dies, you lose Stealth if the squad doesn't have the cloaks.

Now I don't think that is worth 30 points, but its still there.

Telion is a sergeant upgrade so he can easily use the other scouts as shields

Yeah I know, I used to use him when I used scouts. He has plenty of meatshields, but will occasionally have to take some saves himself.

Either way, 30 points is not worth it to keep stealth if you lose him.

I don't think you can. The camo cloak upgrade is an all or nothing. Either the entire squad gets it, or none do.

I'm not so sure that people don't actually play that way. It hasn't been that controversial a topic when it's been discussed in the past... most people seem pretty happy with the rules in this situation.

I was flamed for placing Krandras in a unit of wraithguard with conceal (T6 with a 4+ cover save). Nice the GW agrees with me.

I wonder if that means that IC that joins Pathfinders (Eldar) gets +2 to their cover save or +1. The unit shares a cover save but pathfinders improve theirs by +2 rather then +1.

Humm, maybe. I've always gotten the impression that "most people" don't play that way. At least, around here, it was called cheesy if you wanted your unit to have stealth because Telion was there if you didn't also buy cloaks.
