Ok I'm reading the horus heresy and I'm about to finish reading descent of angels at some point today. So I went into GW and asked which to read next and the staff suggested reading the other dark angels book as it kinda just follows on from descent of angels and then go back to following the release date order.

Does anybody elese recommend this? As I don't want to miss anything by skipping to the other Dark Angels book and then coming back.

Continue on in the Horus Heresy is my suggestion.

just read them in order brother, though TBH I started with flight of the Eisensetein and it the series is still great to me, though that probably has to do with my memory loss problems lol, it makes rereading the series like reading it for the first time!

The HH is well laid out already and both DA books keep their storyline specifically at Dark Angels , so reading both and then return to the major story line should be ok.

I'd try( if both were available yet ), to read 'a thousand sons' and 'prospero burns' in a row, as those are one story from 2 different viewpoints.

thanks everyone well I've gone and purchased both fallen angels and legion so I can go either way when i finish this last chapter in descent of angels. but as I'm quite into dark angels I may follow 1hadhq's advice and read fallen angels and then go back to legion.

You should read Angels of Darkness; there is a surprise in it! I shall say no more...

I suggest burning those DA HH books. Load of crud both of them. I don't know the time line myself but I recommend flight of the eisenstein if you haven't yet read that one.

Go for the newest one, The First Heretic. It focuses on one of the more unmentioned chapters, the Word Bearers, but it also reveals such a massive insight into the life of the Primarches and the true beginnings and causes of the Heresy.

I would agree with the other comments, keep going! I started out reading the first book, then went to the first Dark Angels book...I still have to read "False Gods", but other than that, I've remained pretty much in order.
