Q: If a transport vehicle is destroyed in the same turn as it
moved flat out what happens to any embarked models? (p70)
A: They are removed as casualties.
Taken from the FAQ which can be found here.
How will this affect your play both with armies that this affects and against armies this affects?
Off the top of my head: IG, BA, DE, Ork's. Will you be more cautious or still play as aggressive as you do? The fact that you can loose a transport and loose a complete squad seems rather scary. And I assume all opponents will try to capitalize on this pumping all available fire on the most dangerous vehicles transporting units.

It's in the new BRB FAQ. However the OP is seemingly under the wrong impression. That rule only effects the player moving the transport on his turn. So that if he moves flat out and has to take a test for some reason or risks damage to the vehicle then it takes effect if necessary. It has nothing to do with what the opponent does on his turn.

The exact wording doesn't specify game turn or player turn so people can make a good arguement either way. GW has a pround history of releasing faq that are even less clear than the rules.

Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is, but they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late.

Actually there is a reference on pg. 9 of BRB that says that if a term "turn" is used without any specifics, it means player turn, not game turn.
As far as I'm concerned, that settles it.

The rulebook itself specifies player turn. If it doesnt explicitly say 'game turn' it means player turn (brb p9/10)

Umm...how can a FAQ be less clear than a Rulebook? It's not a rulebook in and of itself. It's an answer to a question raised by a vague rule in the rulebook. Thus the answer pertains to that question and that question alone.
And in light of that, I find this particular answer very clear. If your transport is destroyed in the same turn it moves flat-out, your passengers are killed. What more can it relate to, in the context of the rule in the rulebook it relates to?

Smoke came out of my ears when I read it for the first time, haha. I play Blood Angels and Dark Eldar - that would have been awful!
But yea it's "player's turn", thank God.

Besides the only ork transports that go flat-out are trukks and the ramshackle precedes it (as pointed out in another thread)

I think what this change really affects is Death or Glory! Dangerous terrain is just to unlikely, and I cannot think of any other ways a vehicle could be immobalized on its turn.

Yes as already pointed out, Ramshackle overides the rules for Orks.
The others though, inparticularly BA and DE will suffer due to expensive models or in DE's case, relying on getting to grips with the enemy.

I think we had this discussion yesterday.
Apparently, and it says this on page 9 of the rulebook, when anything just referers to a "turn" then you take it as the players turn, not the overall turn.
Ergo, your transport needs to be destroyed on YOUR turn after it goes flat out for it to kill all the guys inside. After all as many people have pointed out it would kill the effectiveness of most transports, especially Eldar and Dark Eldar ones, if going flat out actually made you more vunerable rather than more protected.
We aren't all Marines who can pop smoke on demand you know.

Yeah I think its more likely they didn't clarify game turn in this case as ONLY fast skimmer transports can get wrecked on their turn except in a very few cases. Why would they FAQ something that's so rare as well as not clarify that they mean in it the very rare case i't could happen and not the bloodcurdling common case. Automatically Appended Next Post: If this was in the BRB it would be a no brainer but it's in an FAQ that now probably needs to be errata'd

Nothing needs to be errata'd.
The answer says "turn". The rulebook says (paraphrasing) "When we say 'turn' we mean player turn, not game turn; if we mean game turn, we'll say 'game turn'."
1+1=2.

Yeah ok so did THEY ask the question about their own rules? Theres so few cases to be wrecked on your own turn that it seems silly this is even being asked. More likely they got asked and didn't clarify.

It all makes sense now why they released that faq. Dark eldar made the issue relevant. They can perform some kind of insane 40" ram at str 10 because of the 1 str per 3" of movement, both vehicles assplode, and then some de players were having fnp units pop out of the wrecked raider. They can still pull off an insane str 10 ram, but it is going to be with empty raiders because of the faq as units inside are wiped out from kamakazie raider attacks.
