If a Vet's squad is unfortunate enough to have to take 3 plasma saves, one on each gunner, and they make two of them, can they choose which gunner get's removed, or do I have to roll the saves specific to that model.

Oh, and what's the current feeling on plasma saves being taken as cover saves, for units in cover? Even funnier would be for a unit with stealth and in cover saving on 3+ vs plasma overheating.

Technically you need to roll all your plasma on a by model basis, so the wounds for using a plasma weapon are assigned specifically to the model that overheated. I do this by using different colored dice for each gunner (but you can also just roll them separately).

This is actually a good thing, because it means one model rolling two 1's will only ever kill one model.

As for Cover Saves, I would not take them against Plasma Gun overheats, I am not sure if there is a generic rule saying you cannot but the wording of the Cover Save rules suggests they can only be taken against wounds inflicted by "flying debris and enemy shots"...I guess you could classify the plasma as being flying debirs... (pg 25 first paragraph on cover saves).

Specific models. In fact you roll each to hit for each "Get's hot" wielding model individually.

Benefit to this is that 1 rapid-firing plasma gunner might roll 2 "1's" to hit, and fail both saves; but you will only lo\se 1 model from the squad.

No cover saves(it is not "shooting" wounds in the sense that you are being shot at so no cover saves apply). You do however get your normal armor saves(so for your marines you already have that 3+), and if you have feel no pain you get that rule as well.

I roll three pairs of dice, so any double 1's can be grouped to determin which gunner blew it, but I was thinking that when assigning wounds the "like" equped models rules would somehow kick in.

Nope. The Gets Hot rule specifically states it's the firing model that takes the save.

Keep in mind that the overheating save does not have an AP value, so you can take your armor save, which will be better than any cover save.

Unless you are a guardsmen with a 5+ save

There are several things done on a per model basis, like overheats and dangerous terrain that actually have a huge impact on the game.

The Specific rules for get's hot are on page 31, the general rules for wounds in complex units is on page 25.

The very Specific rule for what happens in the very specific situation of a roll of 1 to hit with a get's hot weapon overrides the general rule of what happens when a squad with different models takes a wound.
