Did you guys know Canada has a friggin desert?

I was thinking what would GW give a haemonculus model if it were to be released since metal models rarely have optional parts. Then i had another thought, why not make it plastic? That way it would be able to have more weapon options than a metal counterpart and also would be much easier to convert to one's liking.

So what does Dakka think a Haemonculus model shoud be, plastic or metal?

I would probably have it be plastic so I would be able to have a good weapon available.

Should be? Plastic, every model GW has.

But if we get new Haemonculi, they'll probably be blisters

Ummm...somewhere...

Definatly metal, if they make it plastic, then GW are just going to over price and make us pay $38 (AUS) for a haemonculus just because it has a few other upgrades, I would much prefer 3 metal blisters at $22 with different weapons setups, if you need anything else just swap it from the other plastic sprues

I find it odd that Sms get a whole commander sprue, and other races with just as many options have to shell out for abunch of metal models and extra bits to convert what they intended to play. oh well, Gw is hit and miss

Not sure what you are talking about....most metal blisters are $10+ each. As for what material the model should be made from....plastic of course. More options = more bitz for later. Not to mention it is a damn sight easier to work with for conversions, not to mention just regular old assembly!. My one complaint about plastic has been that the mini's are so light, but a penny or two glued to the bottom prevents them from being tossed about.

One easy fix on the "I don't want to pay for extra parts" issue is to just buy the stuff off Ebay. As a great and wise race says on occasion "only a fool pays retail".

He means money in Australian currency.

I'd have it plastic. Even though I'm probably not buying it because I already "kitbashed" one.

Well....this is GW and its space marines! (although necrons and tau do have plastic leaders)

The necron lords are all metal. Maybe the Destroyer lord isn't but I'm not sure

Inside a pretty, pretty pain cave... won't you come inside?

They will make the Wrack box set which will have weapon options that you can use on a metal Haemonculus, just like the Archon can easily use Warrior and/or Wych weapons.

Haemonculi should come 3 to a box, on plastic sprues, so that you can convert them to be what you need.

Personally I'd never buy it. 25 CAD for one plastic model does not justify the purchase whatsoever, especially since I can get the same results by getting bitz from my collection. Same goes for the Chaos Terminator Lord. GW likely knows this and probably scrapped the idea for a Plastic HQ. Compatability with Plastic sets are also why the Archon is metal. His parts are fully interchangable and the options are there on the plastic Warrior and Wych Sprues, which you will ahve one of if you decide to build a Dark Eldar Army that's not based around one of the covens (Hellion or Haemonculus). When the Wracks and Grotesques come out they will probably be as compatable with Haemonculus as well (which would be great if we can get a metal model). Metal models justify the purchase much more, since you get higher detail for one model and usually they're cheaper than the cheapest plastic set (usually, there are exceptions where blisters cost a helova lotta more than plastics, like the Eldar Avatar).

The SM commander kit and Chaos Termie Lord kit are both awesome to source parts from. Ebay is your friend for torso's and legs.

Then again, I'm more than satisfied with my home made stuff as opposed to metal. For me the enjoyment of this hobby comes not from the game or the paint, but from the creative process involved in conversion.
