Hey guys, I know Rememberance Day has come and gone (not that one day does enough justice), but I'd like to take a moment to just share something.

Recently, I came across the name Julian Austin. He's a Canadian country singer, and he's done something very selfless. He's written a song called "The Red & White Brigade" as a tribute to Canadian troops of past and present, and he's selling it through his website for $1 CAD with all proceeds going to the Sapper Mike McTeague Wounded Warriors fund.

The Wounded Warriors fund was started in 2006, when a suicide bomber on a bicycle detonated amidst a crowd, killing 4 Canadian Soldiers, gravely wounding 3, and killing and maiming an unknown number of Afghan civilians. When soldiers were brought to Germany for hospitalization for such injuries, they lived in exceedingly Spartan conditions, with very little to do while recovering. The fund was established to provide entertainment and basic home-comforts to soldiers while they healed, as well as helping their families to cover transportation costs to Germany, so that they might see their husband/father/son (in some cases, one final time).

Again, the song is only $1 CAD, and every one of those dollars goes towards injured soldiers that're being treated for crippling, life-altering injuries. The link to the site's store is below. I'm not a huge Charity guy myself - I donate to the food bank at Christmas, gave a couple hundred off one of my paycheques to the Hatian Relief, and gave blankets and clothing to victims of the massive 2003 fires around Kamloops that all but completely consumed the town of Barriere, but that's it. However, this is one that I really hope people will reach out and give for. For some of these folks, this fund might allow them to celebrate one last Christmas with a loved one that was injured in service to his or her country. Personally, that's worth much more than what's being asked.

Here's a link to the site's store, and a Youtube demo below that. I know it's a song for us Syrup-sucking, Ice-Hole Canadians, but if this cause seems noble to you, it isn't asking for a lot, yet it gives so much.

That is literally the oddest piece of music I've ever heard.

Its like a Canadian Dropkick Murphys.

Good cause though. Song purchased.

It makes me think of The Trews mixed with Flogging Molly. The man's from New Brunswick, so I suppose it's due to some of the nearby Newfie culture. Not a bad song by any means, just... strange sound.

Anyway, thanks Dogma. And thanks to anyone and everyone else that contributes to this. Someday, that money might help someone in your family.

Its the vocals that throw me off.
