Yo.

I'm reading the rulebook about Tank Shock; it says that models being tank shocked make a leadership, and if they pass, move aside, and if they fail, fall back. Either way, they get out of the way of the damn vehicle.

I'm reading about Mycetic Spores that say that they cannot, for any reason, move.

So if you tank shock a Mycetic Spore that CAN'T move out of the way, what happens? Presumably, the Spore dies.

AFAIK thats how I've always played the rule, though you might have to ask GWAR for the official rules breakdown, he's the resident rules guru.

The FAQ cleared this up. They can be moved by abilities that force them to move, e.g. Terror from the Deep, Deep Striking Monoliths, and by extension, Tank Shock.

People really need to stop differing to Gwar!. Yes he provides a lot of answers, but making it into a cult of personality is not a positive thing.

In terms of what happens, there is no clear answer. There is nothing to say that it would be destroyed. There are 2 equally correct ways of interpreting this situation IMO.

Either A) Spores can't move and therefore you are unable to end your tank shock move within 1" of it. You can force the tank shock test, but they are unable to fall back anyways. If you tank shock past it and don't end up within 1", you are fine. If your tank shock move would end within 1" of it, you must stop before entering the 1" zone.

B) The Spore although is not able to move itself, can be forced to move by other models (such as FZORGLE). Therefore if you would end your tank shock within 1" of it, you simply move the Spore the shortest distance to be 1" away from the tank.

edit: Well now, I've never noticed the FAQ ruling! Its option B then.

thats kind of annoying, I liked it better when you could grind them to gristle beneath your treads, that FAQ makes them seem like the wacky-flailing-arm-inflatable-tube-men from Family Guy, just getting bumped harmlessly around the battlefield with a care flailing their damn tentacle arms and laughing.

Trying to tank shock a Fearless Monstrous Creature is kind of suicidal anyways.

And describing them as "wacky-flailing-arm-inflatable-tube-men from Family Guy" is just awesome, mainly because that was what I was thinking when I clicked on this thread, and would be absolutely hilarious to see animated.

Asking any specific poster on these boards would get you that poster's personal opinion, not an 'official rules breakdown'.

This is from the July 2010 Tyranid FAQ;

Q: A Mycetic Spore cannot move itself once it has
entered the battle, but can it be moved by another
model (e.g. by a Mawloc’s Terror from the Deep special
rule)?
A: Yes.

Though tank shock is not specifically mentioned, I think it fits the bill (moved by another model).
