I'm a Tau player and I'm trying to get my army to be completely "What you see is what you get". Unfortunately, I don't even know what some of the stuff looks like. Does anybody know what the following things look like?

-Disruption Pod
-Multi-Tracker (for vehicles)
-Decoy Launchers
-Blacksun filter
-Flechette discharger
-Target Lock (for vehicles)
-Targeting Array

Thanks in advance!

I'm pretty sure the Blacksun Filter looks a lot like the words "Blacksun Filter" written in black sharpie on the hull of the model. In fact, using black sharpie markers for WYSIWYG is pretty reasonable. My Tervigon is sporting "I have cluster spines, donkey-cave!".

I mean, I totally appreciate your commitment to being as compliant with WYSIWYG as possible, but the sad fact is that we just don't know what some of these things look like. Worse, WYSIWYG completely fails here because even if there are proper representations for each of these things, the general playing public doesn't know what they look like. I could tell you that those weird, 3 pronged things on your vehicle sprues are Decoy Launchers. That's what my brother uses them for. I don't know if they are though, and I have no expectation that if you went into a game your opponent would recognize them. In this case "what you see" is a bunch of unidentified plastic, metal and resin that might be upgrades, might be parts of the base vehicle or might be part of a crisis suit that got stuck on in transit. "What you get" is confusion and apathy.

Writing the words "Target Lock" on the side of your Hammerhead is the best you can do, I think.

Oh, actually... you know all those vehicle banners that we used to have? From back in second edition? You could write all your updrages on one of those and then just pin it to the vehicle somewhere. that's not the worst idea ever.

It was my understanding that the three pronged thing was the multi-tracker/targeting array(one of the two), the blacksun filter was hardwired into the system, so you didn't have to model it, that or you can attach a small light and call it an infrared light(look up infrared cameras if you dont know what im talking about).
The antennae that you get, i was understood was the target lock

Hmm. I will do some research for you to see if i can find answers.

Okay, some quick research.
Multi Tracker(I have seen it used as the same thing on the vehicles so my previous statement about the three pronged thing is wrong, that or others are wrong and just using this as a substitute since its obvious what it is. This is from the crisis suit.)
Target Lock(The camera looking thing.
Decoy Launchers and Flachette DischargerIn an upgrade kit for the tau from FW

OR!
You can click here to see what someone had done on another forum site to help Tau players find and identify parts.
This is probably your better bet. Found this in the middle of my search, but I will leave the other links there since they link to shops and FW

Yes, that definitely helped. I'm glad there are other players who are as lost as I am, hahaha. You would think a big, money-hungry corporation like GW would make each part and charge an absurd amount of money for them, hahaha. I guess I'll have to save some money and proxy the stuff.

Darn, hahaha.

Lol try using WYSIWYG with Tyranids. So much of a wallbanger for non-nid players at times that it's just better to list what each model has.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

When I'm editing alot, you know I have a gakload of homework to (not) do.

This is one of those item that wouldn't actually be visible. Try painting the vision block (on vehicles) or the cameras on suits in a different colour.
