Now I remember why I took a hiatus from guard to play SM ... This is downright nasty. Only thing I like to do is put carapace on my CCS, other than that ...

I did have it on TBH, but ditched it to play other things. I did have two Demolishers and a single Russ, but I think I'm going to give a Manticore a gho as recent game it kicked out 7 blast templates!

I'd suggest dropping a chimera, and finding a few more points to take a 6th melta vet squad, and run two squads in the Vendetta's.(more scoring units is happy) Maybe even drop a LRBT, so you can get Demo charges on them. You could fill up the rest of the points from that with Marbo, or a Hydra if you want more fire support.

I only suggest this, because up until recently I was running a very similar list to you, but I was finding it lacked in versatility, and quick mobility. I am now only running one CCS and have 2 5 man squads of Deep striking melta Stormies, and they have been making things interesting in the enemies back field.

I second that, well sorta.

I would do the following:

1) Change one of the CCS's to 3x Melta, drop their Chimera and load them in a Vendetta.

2) Give the other CCS carapace.

3) Give one of the Melta-Vet Squads, demolitions, drop their chimera, load them in a Vendetta.

4) Add a minimum PSB w/ Chimera

Yeah, that's pretty solid.

For the extra points, I'd be real tempted to tone down a plasma into a melta and get an astropath in there.

Otherwise, I can't really think of anything better than opening a crate of meltabombs, or throwing on a few HKs, or something.

I might swap the CCS's plasma guns with some of the Veterans melta. The idea would be to use the CCS's in the suicide role rather than the troops.

The Vendettas could be used to transport something. That would leave some points for. . . something.

As far as it goes, the list is fine; the twenty points could be used to upgrade a 'Russ to a demolisher. The remaining five could be an excuse if you lose.

Suicide CCS isn't too bad, but I like the mass plasma TBH. I can still do suicide melta, just throw melta veterans into a Vendetta, turbo boost forward and drop them out - Vendetta can then turbo boost back next turn, this is done in the scout move btw - sometimes this isn't viable I've found as I did this trick with Valkyries which worked well, but with Chimeras I've got the option.

Re-worked the list, 15 points spare, 10 if I throw on smokes to the Hound, 10 points spare I'm not fussed about.

10 points could always throw another upgrade on the hound e.g. stubber or dozer.

20 points, two hunter killer missles just might be fun to have.

Hmmmm I like the idea of that.

A stubber or dozer won't add a lot but hey it uses 10 points and both would be alright on the hound

The stubber would be better because defensive weapon and the Hound being fast means I can fire it whether going 6" or 12" - won't do a lot but may come in handy.

yeah can't hurt. Normally I wouldn't suggest it but as it's to use up the last 10 points of a solid list why not. Everyon likes more dakka.

Nah, I'd rather take dozer blades on everything but if I fail terrain then that's the way the cookie crumbles. Though the Hound does have a 12" plus template range
