No, but it can be kind of tricky to play on the field.
The core of an air-cav list should look something vaguely similar to...
CCS, 4x melta, astropath
3x plasma vets
3x plasma vets
3x plasma vets
Vendetta
Vendetta
Vendetta
For vaguely like 900 points (I dont' have my codex on me). Then, you have to decide on where you want to go from there. You could do part-air-cav, part mech, which sees the
CCS take a chimera, and a load of other AV12 vehicles on the field (with perhaps a russ). You could also, if you wanted, do PURELY air-cav, which would see you taking two more plasma vet squads, and running with 4 vendettas and 2 valkyries everything in squads of two.
Basically, you're relying on mass outflanking to always apply a buttload of hurt on one place right away in an alpha strike, and then keep on using your mobility to keep local fire superiority. It works, but it involves you buying a lot of valkyries, and a lot of special weapons.
My suggestion would be to start with a 1000 point list of a valk added onto the above list and see how you like playing with the flyers.
