I was reading a post in BOLS and a link was given to this. I wonder what you guys think of this? Can this be done or not? http://kirbysblog-ic.blogspot.com/2010/11/board-control-and-dark-eldar-webway.html

Scroll down a bit till you read: Board Control, and the Dark Eldar Webway portral.

My friend and I were talking about this 2 weeks ago and "trapping" things in it similar to a vortex Grenade

The only part that is unclear is how many Webway portals you can use, it seems you can take multiple but it sounds singular about placement. Anyway I'd expect an faq to prevent these "shenanigans"

What is a vortex grenade? I am getting back into 40K and I don't recall anyone using a vortex grenade.

Each Haemi can take one, and haemis are 1 - 3 per HQ - i.e. up to 6 in an army.

expect this to be in an FAQ - not the wall but certainly the trapping.

Considering that the little overpriced half tennis balls things were limited edition and the rule actually tells you to place a spare small blast marker, they will not block LOS as the jackass writing at the Kirby blog wishes they did.

The kirby blog is full of that crap.

less than 2 Dollars(USD) for a 3" Stylrofoam ball at most craft stors, and for that price plus the 30 seconds or so of cutting it in half you get 2 of those half-sphere markers.

Also nothing in the Warpgate rules state it block LOS, so it doesn't as has been said. It is Impassable though.

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.

You're going to draw los through an opaque object how?

By pointing out that a large opaque object is not a small blast marker, nor is it similarly sized and as such not called for in the rules of the webway portal and as such can not just be placed on the table and assumed to block LoS.

Actually if you allow them to use an opaque object, it will block los (assuming you don't also alter the LOS rules for the game...). I'd say that if you have an objection to the object being used for the portal that you insist on having them follow the rules and use an extra small blast template.

Of course, I would not be very impressed with an opponent who didn't let me use my portals.

Then again, I'd be less impressed by a player abusing the WWP like this.

I have no problem with the portal markers being used, but you have to allow for LoS to be drawn through them as the rules for the webway portal does not in anyway allow for blocked LoS.

I think he's saying that since a hemispherical marker is not similar in size to a blast marker, he would expect an opponent who asked to use a hemispherical marker to have the courtesy of playing as if it was the same size/dimensions as a blast marker.
