Dante's Inferno

Okay, so I went to a partners tourney over the weekend (1000 pts each). This would be my first real tournament/game, so I was prettly excited. I brought a basic Chaos Space Marine Battleforce group that looked something like this:

HQ
Chaos Lord w/ MoK, Bloodfeeder, and jump pack.

Elites
5 Possessed w/ MoK

Troops
15 Chaos Space Marines, two w/ Flamers, one Aspiring Champion w/ Power fist.

8 Berzerkers, one Aspiring Champion w/ power fist. Mounted in Rhino w/ Havoc Launcher.

Fast Attack
5 Raptors, one w/ flamer

Total: 1003 pts (one of the power fists took me slightly over)

My friend brought a Tau list, consisting of a Crisis suit commander, two railheads, twenty Kroot, several Stealth Suits w/ gun drones two Broadsides, and six Fire Warriors.

Battle One

This was a custom deployment, where you divided the board into six sections and roll a die for each of your units to see where they ended up. We played a team of Chaos Space Marines and normal Space Marines. Each round was about an hour and a half long, so excuse that they are shorter than normal.

Turn One: I was nearly tabled. This might have been the most bloodthirsty round of shooting I will ever see. I lost my Possessed, six of my Berzerkers (who, thank God, made their morale check) and four of my Raptors, who also made their check because of being with the Lord. My friend lost his Fire Warriors.
When my turn rolled around, I had my Berzerkers take an objective, and my Chaos Marine squad took out a full Tac squad. My Lord proceeded to charge headlong into a squad of Berzerkers, and mauled two of them. Grr... My Rhino echoed my displeasure and blew up an Assault Marine.

Turn Two: My Lord was charged by another Chaos Lord, the remaining eight Berzerkers, and 9 Assault Marines. He died of course, but he took out the last of the Berzerkers with him. My Chaos Marine squad went for an objective farther away, which wasn't the smartest move... My friend brought the pain with a double dose of railgun fire, blowing away a Chaos Land Raider.

Turn Three: For the second time in the game, my Rhino was fired on by twin-linked lascannons from a Predator in its back armor and survived, then exploded under heavy bolter fire. WHAT??? The Assault Marines and Chaos Lord charged my Chaos Marines and killed seven, but the Chaos Lord was beat to death by my Aspiring Champion with his power fist, and two Assault Marines went with him. I almost made up the lost points with those guys dying! The Thousand Sons (belonging to the other Chaos Player)had been attacking the Broadsides repeatedly over the last turn, and they dragged the last one down this turn.

Turn Four: The last Broadside may have gone down, but the Thousand Sons had lost several to submunition rounds, and vanished this turn. My friend also took out that annoying Predator for me. My Chaos Marines killed two more Assault Marines, and the power fist broke them in combat.

The game ended with one objective each, resulting in a tie (the Marine player had an objective covered by another Tac squad).

Game Two

The Deployment was a Spearhead formation, and the mission was called Dude, Where did I park my Car? All of your vehicles started in the center and you had to reach them for them to be used.

Turn One: My opponents played IG and Eldar. The Railheads didn't even survive the first round of firing. Nor did the Rhino. The Eldar player activated his Fire Prism, and we knew we were screwed. GRRRR......

Turn Two: My Possessed charged the Rhino, and even though they had Rending, they whiffed, doing squat. About this time, I got kinda sick, so much of this game I spent in the bathroom hoping I wouldn't puke.

Turn Three: My Chaos Squad shot up a bunch of jetbikes with massed boltgun fire. My Possessed whiffed again. I threw up in the toilet. My friend moved my models while I was doing so, so I have little idea about what happened here.

Turn Four: The jetbikes cut down six Berzerkers (the last two made their morale check) and a Raptor (?). I fired on the Autarch on the jetbike with bolt pistols, and my Lord cut down two more jet bikes.

Funny Ruling: The Eldar player said that even though I had fired on the Autarch's squad, I had hit a different squad, and therefore the Autarch was unhurt. Does that sound like cheating to anybody? Because that sounded like a load of it to me, but this being a friendly tourney, we let it slide. This cost us the game, because if we had pressed, I could have charged the Autarch and least done something to that fancy bike of his, and his squad wouldn't have counted as contesting an objective. Comments?

Battle Three

This was another custom deployment, where we got to set up our opponent's armies. We clustered them up, because we were facing Orks/Sanguinary Guard with Dante. Dante's ability weakened my Lord.

Turn One: My friend wiped out 19 orks with concentrated fire from his railheads. The orks spread outwards toward my guys, and my friend sealed two objectives.

Turn Two: more potshots took out three or four orks and a couple Sanguinary Guard. My Chaos Marine Squad took another objective, and my Raptors and Berzerkers prepared for the onslaught.

Turn Three: They Waaagh!!ed a single inch, then assaulted my Berzerkers, who beat them to death in close combat despite losing two, broke the orks, and caught them (including a warboss) in a sweeping advance.

Turn Four: My Tau buddy had long been popping holes in Sanguinary Guard, and my Berzerkers and Raptors fired their bolt pistols, killing the Sanguinary Priest, and then the Raptors charged Dante, wounding him, and my Lord beat him with his sword, wounding him again.

Turn Five: My friend's railhead fended off an attack by the other squad of Sanguiary Guard, and Kroot rifles killed one (either Kroot rifles or Fire Warrior guns, can't remember which). My Lord showed his superiority and kicked Dante's butt, while the orks surrounded him and killed the Raptors. Game ended with our three objectives to their one. MY FIRST WIN.

All in all, with a total of five objectives over the games (that was how they scored us) we tied for third. I was cool with that. For my first real game/tourney, I did pretty well, I think.
