Hey guys, I'm starting an Eldar army that will have similar(ish) armour to the Saim-Hann.

This is how GW claims it's done:

http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/content/article.jsp?categoryId=600003&pIndex=1&aId=1100017&multiPageMode=true&start=2

Craftworld: Saim-Hann
Undercoat: Skull White. Basecoats: Blood Red, Dark Angels Green + Snot Green, Space Wolves Grey, Shadow Grey. Highlights: Blazing Orange + Dwarf Flesh, Snot Green + Sunburst Yellow, Space Wolves Grey, Skull White.

Now sorry, but I don't actually believe that model was painted using those steps... They don't even describe a wash. The model looks toned and doesn't look like it just has one flat application of colour and then some edge-highlighting.

Any Dakkaites want to deduce how it's done?

I thought Mechrite Red, Blood Red, wash, blazing orange+blood red highlighting and then maybe the blazing orange + dwarf flesh final highlight? All of this on a white primer?

Edit: The crappy internet explorer on campus won't let me copy the URL of the actual Saim-Hann pic, but you can see him on the top right of the linked page. Just click for a bigger view.

I'm an idiot, I just found the "Painting Guardians" article... Which is Saim-Hann.

that link you have up might be a slight over simplification of how to paint the Saim-Hann. If it was that simple, everyone could paint them well

4250 points of Blood Angels goodness, sweet and silky W12-L6-D4
1000 points of Teil-Shan (my own scheme) Eldar Craftworld in progress
800 points of unassembled Urban themed Imperial Guard
650 points of my do-it-yourself Tempest Guard
675 points of Commoraghs finest!

Buy some red spray, then highlight and wash. I'm building the same Craftworld at the moment, using DEldar jetbikes. I will post my results up next month depending on how much time I can throw at the project.

Good luck, and post up what you get finished
