I could find anywhere in the book that details this.

Are skimmers allowed to stop on impassible terrain? I believe the BRB says they can as long as they will balance. In that case, you have a floating immobilized skimmer, which if it is a transport the occupants are stuck inside and if the vehicle is wrecked they will be unable to disembark and count as destroyed. If you moved more than 12" (aka flat out) before landing and getting immobilized, then in that case the skimmer is wrecked and the squad inside is sadly destroyed. Keep in mind thanks to the new BRB FAQ that if you go flat out and get immobilized the squad inside dies regardless of the terrain feature that stalled your engines.

Been out of the game for awhile, trying to find time to get back into it. |

They can rest over impassible terrain if they can be balanced on top.
They must take a dangerous terrain test, unless they are a Tau skimmer with Sensor Spines.

What no one has explained is what happens if they cannot be placed.
In this case, a house rule is required, and my gaming club does it as it goes to the nearest possible save place, as if it had rolled down the hill.

I thought skimmers that were immobilized were wrecked, except for the almighty Monolith...

In 4th edition this was true. In 5th, they are now only wrecked if they had moved flat out in its last turn. Which has all sorts of implications for skimming through dangerous terrain in the same turn as moving flat out... Ignore that last bit, I forgot that it was addressed in the recent FAQ. To the original question: there is no rule stating that a unit is destroyed if it is forced to sit on top of impassable terrain, so I'd say that the skimmer would stay alive on top of the impassable terrain. Though its weapons can only fire 45° downward so if it's too high above the table then it might not be able to do anything, anyway. Naturally, if you and your opponent think that it should be destroyed, then by all means play it that way. By the rules, though, it looks like a skimmer just stays there as normal.

A skimmer which can't be placed on the impassable terrain would not be there in the first place, in order to get immobilised, so the question does not arise.
