Yeas, I have been collecting iron warriors for about a year now, but they don't have any leader yet... Because I can't decide what to do with it. I have som fluff for them - They are the IW seventh company, and inhabit the cruiser Strages Incus (Means Anvil of Destruction). Their leaders name is Aaron Silencus, who holds a weapon called Steelbane. I have started on the model, but I'm not sure how to continue... Could you help me?

This is what I have for now:

It is mainly the head that is the problem. I don't want it to look too much like the other terminators, I don't want it to be helmetless... I don't think it should look too much like the other IWs...
Also, I was thinking about perhaps adding some techmarine arms to his back. How does that sound?

How about a pre-heresy style helmet? Something different from the normal terminator style, maybe a WHFB WoC head or something?

I would file those Adeptus Mechanius symbols off of the axe first, what i think would look great it if you filed the teeth of cogs into points, but how it would look in reality is another thing XD. Try using a head from another range of games, such as Maximi or something so it much less likely anyone will have it, or be be using it for a similar purpose

Have thought about that too, I'm not sure but it might be cool...

Nice obliterators you have there. Hmm, maybe a WoC head but with tusks could look good...

Checked the Maxmini store, and the steam knight helmets were just awesome! Still not sure if I should use them for Aaron, but I will use them for something definitely. And the pointy AdMech symbol is a nice idea too. The idea is that his axe is a gift from the Dark Mechanicus.

I also think that i'd like it to look a bit similar to the Termiheads, but a bit more of something... Perhaps like Zhufors, or like the Iron Hands termies who won golden daemon this year...

If it is a gift from the Dark Machanicus then surely it would look warped, even if it's only just a little bit?

Guess that's true, but I prefer to not make mutations here. For example, my Obliterators are converted Techmarines on 40mm bases... Also, I was planning to later buy a Deathjack for Daemon Prince.

What would you say about me using this new guy Tyberos (http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/TYBEROS-THE-RED-WAKE.html) head for him (a bit chaosified, of course)? I think it looks pretty cool.

I'd go with a pre-heresy Mk3 head, if you have regular GW Iron Warriors in your army you will have more chaosified versions of them already. Leaving this one plain or modifying it in some other way will go well with your general army appearance but still look unique.
Or look at the old style heads that come in the venerable dreadnought kit, I thought of using them on my termy captain. They won't quite fit right in a termy body as-is but if you build up a neck with a little green stuff I think it'd do.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
by the way, very good job on matching that metal ax and hand onto your termy arm. I bet that looks seamless when it's painted.

Hm, both these surely are valid ideas. The iron armour guys would give me quite a lot of bits for my other CSM too... Might be time for a FW order soon...

Thanks! I would like to paint him right away, but can't, for obvious reasons. When this desicion problem is over, go take a look at my painting blog!

So, these are the various ideas brainstormed up (by both you and me), and my personal view of them:
WoC head - not really my coup of tea for this army, I don't really think it... fits in...
Steam Knight head - perhaps, perhaps, I don't know what size they are, but maybe they are more fitting that I think
Zhufors head - Looks nice in general but probably a bit too khorny and somewhat mutated
Usual terminator head with bionic implants - Not sure how to do it, but could look cool
Tyberos head - If converted it could look nice. I'm pretty fond of this choice, actually
MK3 head - Fluffy and good, though perhaps not impressive enough (though it might be if converted - I suppose I could buy both these and Tyberos)
V. Dreadnought head - No problems really with it, just not sure how much I like it
