I started with an IG army in mid 2000, never finished it though because painting Gaurdsman got tiresome (I was young and not focused). So I dropped my hobby but still kept up on 40k as much as possible through forums and by going to the LGS's with my buddies that did have armies to watch and learn.

I found out about some podcasts through this forum about two years ago and after listening to them I started to become really interested in the hobby again, but I was not willing to fool with IG again. I did however have some Space Marines laying around and figured that would be a good place to start, so I am currently working on 2000 pts worth of Smurfs. I have not played with them yet as I refuse to play with an unpainted army, so I have no idea how my list will play just yet. I do know that I will suck for a while as I haven't played a game in a couple years (I have used a buddies IG army and another's Necron army).

Anywho, that's a quick summary of my 40k history. I'll be posting up my Ultramarine list soon in the list section as well as getting some nice pics posted up of my armies progress.

I'm looking forward to learning a lot more from this site.

hey Old Timer (in game terms anyway) welcome back. I've noticed a lot of people that used to be into gaming are coming back (I'm one myself).

I started right around the same time; in '99, though have been pretty continuously into it.

Definitely post up some army list thoughts in that forum, and don't hesitate to post some pics in the painting & modeling forum.

The Gallery's an awesome place to go for inspiration; I think we have the best Gallery on the web; even if we're still catching up to Cool Mini or Not for volume of content.
