A simple way to give your characters cigarettes is by taking a spure and heating it up. Once heated simply pull the heated area to create a stretchy long, thin piece of plastic. Hold it until hard then paint it white. Cut the stringy plastic to desired size and dip in super glue. You can put smokes in mouths, behind ears or between fingers. I'm sure someone must have done this before just thought I'd share. I did this to my ork army and it adds a uniqueness. Thicker plastic pieces painted brown would make good cigars too.

You can also use a thin sausage of greenstuff for a more cone-shaped smoke (works well with the sniper scout sergeant's hand), as demonstrated by squad-leader Sativa of the Ultramarines:

I like the cone shaping, looks more like one of those left handed cigarettes.

It's a rollie.

Wow, that's some decent conversion work. I always wondered if Space Marines kicked back between missions. I can imagine the Sergeant saying through his vox box "some 'em if you've got 'em" and taking off his helmet.

Very cool work.

Haha, Judge Dread is classic. That movie wouldn't fly in Canada. Only Americans could let it come to that. No offense intended, just saying Canada's future would be much more open minded. 40K in Canada would be filled with mostly Space Wolves on the dope and beer playing hockey any chance we got. God love stereotyping.

1: Wow. So none of you figured out that Judge Dredd is a British character? 2000AD is a UK publication. There's more to life than movies.

2: IG smoke. Marines I doubt would want to screw up their Emperor-Given lungs of blessed breathyness.

Space Marines cannot be intoxicated by all but the most extreme means. Cigarettes and alcohol have no effect on them (Sources: Index astartes and A thousand sons, respectively.).

I don't know why they'd be drinking or smoking, except to feel cool or to relate with humans on some basic level. Cigarettes are referred to as 'bac-sticks', I think.

Fluff Nazis cannot be humored by anything but the most extreme means. Obvious silliness and fun-poking have no effect on them (Sources: Dakkadakka and Bolter&Chainsword, respectively.).

I don't know why they'd be reading the 40k rulebook, except to perhaps check the rapid fire rule or to argue the toss about something instead of enjoying the game. You've missed the point, I think.

;-p

'Lho sticks' Is i think the fluff you are looking for Samus. I like to think that Lho sticks are given to guardsmen in a ration like in WW2 with ciggies. In my guardsmen short story (see below) the main character is chewing on 'Nicota leaves' (nicotine hint hint) i like to think that Lho is synthetic crap (that's not cancerous) given out by the imperium to make the men feel a bit more at home. When in actual fact what they want is a good old 'Nicota' cigar/cigerette.

This forum was designed to share ideas about creating cigarettes not debating whether they actually smoke or drink. It is strictly from a modeling perspective. My orks have smokes, why cares if a book says they do or don't it makes them look unique. Let's not nerd this up to extremes here.

I would have to say that the green stuff sausage cigar would probably be easier and more time-efficient than the heating idea... btw love the basing on the sergant, and the paintjob is AWESOME on all of them.
