I recently decided it was a good idea to make my own custom Land Raider variant. Thus far in playtesting I have had good results with it, but I'm not sure how to model the thing.

The Land Raider Devastator is a Chaos Land Raider variant devised by the Bleak Brotherhood. The heavy bolters on the front are replaced with two twin-linked autocannons, and the lascannons on the sponsons are both replaced with a twin-linked autocannon.
Transport capacity is reduced to 5 due to increased weapons power.
Other than that it's just a normal Land Raider.

As of right now I'm using the autocannon turret from the planetstrike set for the front weapon, but I'm not sure what to use on the sponsons. Any suggestions?

I forget what it is called but there is a terrain piece that is armoured walls with machine guns. Those might work.

That'd work great if it wasn't attached to my defiler. Maybe I'll talk to the people at my gaming club and see if anyone has any of those they could part with.

Are you absolutely tied to all autocannons? I think twin-linked sponson ACs work, but the main gun seems a tad large and powerful. Maybe a missile launcher, using a space Dreadnought or Cyclone? You could then use the Aegis line one for both the side sponsons.

Aegis defence line, that's what I was lookin' for.

The whole point of the thing is that it's using all autocannons. It's meant to own light vehicles and infantry.

Point cost I came up with was 270pts.

i'd pick a different name. devastator is already a marine class and its a bit confusing for newer players or even veteran non-marine players to use it for a tank in the same army.

Three autocannons doesn't sound that scary. I think you could get away with it still having an 8-10 transport capacity. Call it the Land Raider Reaper or something akin to that, as the previous confusion has already been mentioned.

'Reaper' would be perfectly fitting, and awesome sounding well i guess even though heavy 8 str 7 ap4 twinlinked may sound really bad, but then again, it isn't like the new Apollos or whatever it's called, thats ridiculous, and seeing as C:SM get 3 variants and power of the machine spirit you can't call it unfair at all, sound awesome though, I like it

Alright, Land Raider Reaper it is. That sounds way better than the Devastator.

It doesn't have three AC's, it has 4. Two twin linked as the main gun, and one twin linked on each of the sponsons. I'm thinking about changing that, though.
4 AC's as the main gun, two on each of the sponsons, for a total of 8, dropping the twin linked rule they have. I do like the transport of 8, though. That works better.

The front gun is using the Aegis defense line weapon, I got that confused with something else. I'll probably pick up another one to use as the sponsons.

Perhaps try IG heavy weapns squad. That will give you guns and some spare bits too.

much less cheesy than the achilles. I like it.
