Subject: Orders and Heavy weapons

I searched a few times for this but nothing related came up. I guess that means it's either a really bad or really good question.
Let's say I outflank Al'rahem with a heavy weapons team. Autocannons or whatever.
>Like the Wind!
"If the order is successfully issued, the ordered unit immediately makes a Shooting attack (it may not run). When this has been resolved, the unit immediately moves D6" in a direction of your choice."
Does this mean they can shoot even though they moved? and then like, totally move again? like, these guys don't even care?
If so, I should mention that the wordings on the Bring it Down and Fire on my Target orders are pretty similar.

It states you make a shooting attack. It does NOT state you "count as stationary" while firing, so you could not fire heavy weapons, or fire above 12" for rapid fire weapons.
You would run after shooting.

I guess you're saying that making a "Shooting attack" means that the unit goes through the process of making a shooting attack as normal, as it's laid out in the rulebook?

It says they immediately make a shooting attack and when it has been resolved they move D6".
Resolving it can conclude to not firing for many reasons, such as out of range, no line of sight or being a heavy weapons team that just moved.

All right seems fair if nothing else.
What about charging after Like the Wind?

All of the usual restrictions would apply. So no charging if you've fired a heavy or rapid fire weapon, if you shot at something else, if you ran and you're not fleet, etc.

I see. However, are you sure that the order counts that move as a run move?
Seems to me that if the Shooting attack is made as usual, you could decide not to shoot with some (all) weapons. If this is so, and it's not a run move, it basically makes them fleet, right?
Pretty sweet order regardless, but that would be a fun application.

AS the "move" is not running then it appears you COULD assault, as long as you havent fired rapid fire / heavy weapons, etc. So demo charge vets could use this order to get in range for meltabombs, for example.
This is because you are prohibited from assault after Running, not after making any form of movement in the shooting phase.

Good point. It follows the same form as running but is not actually described as such.

Well that is extremely great.
Anyone else care to comment?

The rule says you make a shooting attack (you don't run) and then you make a D6" move.
That D6" move is not a run move. (however, I usually remember this order as "shoot then run" because the move is D6" just like a run move)

The above is my interpretation as well. As with many of these discussions, GW only has to add "The unit cannot assault unless it is fleet", to make things perfectly clear. And yet they never make it perfectly clear.
So I am of the opinion that you can shoot, move, and then assault (following all assault rules).

Plus, using like the wind on a heavy weapons team would be a waste to begin with. When you show up with al'rahem, you're likely going to want to be throwing down LTW on a power blob or BiD on shooty blobs and/or himself (at least half of my vehicle kills have been from al'rahem outflanking with 3 meltaguns and BiDing himself), or, in certain circumstances, FRFing.
The whole point of Al'Rahem is shock and awe. Bringing heavy weapons at all runs counter to this idea, much less wasting orders (that they're tragically likely to fail) on them.
