Because they were too lazy to add another title to it.
Anyway!
How's the maps on it? I like how it plays, but the maps in the multiplayer beta were... well, there was only one that didn't suck basically.

Actually I really enjoyed the majority of maps. I really like the use of all three demensions in the majority of the maps. Choke points, bunny holes, firing lanes and many other glossed over concepts are actually considered in the majority of their maps. Which is a nice change of pace from the generic FPS games out there.

Any particularly bad snipefests like the one that takes place in shahikot (recover crashed chopper's black box, destroy mortar position, etc)? Because that one was a clear loser in my view.

Quick question, Isn't this game a buggy mess? It was reviewed as so, but games reviewers can be fickle. Pick apart one game, be very lenient to the next etc etc.
Also as there are no Nazi's, it is no longer a MoH game.

Anyone?
I've played through its single player on (someone else's) xbox now, I generally like the graphics and gameplay style (uncomfortable xbox controller notwithstanding), and the only thing really stopping me from getting it with xmas money is the question of multipalyer maps. How many good maps are there, and how many snipefests like Shahikot are there?
And yes, to me the two are mutually exclusive.

If it's made by Dice (parallel developed, EA montreal or something developed the single player) expect snipefests. Have you not played BFBC2? with Dice games you gotta learn to snipe. I am an awesome 'counter sniper' i only ever snipe other snipers, it's very satisfying and doesn't feel lone wolfish as your technically helping the team. Anyway i remember Dice mentioning they were going for the 'faster bullets' feel (a la COD) and i think this may have messed with the balance as in BFBC2 sprinting infantry could only ever be winged with all but the luckiest GOL sniper magnum bullets.

No, I haven't, because there is no demo for BFBC2 and thus I never got a chance to try it before I buy it.

I have to be honest, i didn't like the new MOH one bit. I bought it on release and was very disappointed. Rather short & somewhat buggy singleplayer.
And the multiplayer,..., well if I we're you, I'd just spend my Christmas money on CoD black ops...

That's unfortunate, on playstation at least, BFBC2 has been my favourite multiplayer experience. It balances vehicles, snipers, close assault and teamwork (shock!) really well. It's a bit more cartoony looking/ feeling; all the russky medics have funny red berets, the 'repair tool' is a bizarre concept plus an hilarious killing implement and the US soldiers are always shouting expletives. If vietnam is available as a standalone i'd say $15 well spent. So i would skip MoH but if you liked some of it's features give bad company a go. As i cant help but feel Dice were bullied by EA into doing MoH's multiplayer and as a result 'Phoned it In'. Hopefully this was more helpful. 8-).

Not really, most of what you said made me really dislike the idea of getting BFBC2 even more. Vehicle combat is something I'd rather avoid, and a cartoony look and feel isn't something I'm after either.
I actually liked the way MoH played in the multiplayer beta, but the Shahikot map was just terrible and horribly designed with far, far too much emphasis on sniping making it nigh-impossible for the Python-1 team to actually advance past the first point, and I was worried there'd be too many like that one. Meanwhile Kunar Base was exceptionally put together, having a few open areas, a few sniping areas, and lots of corners and short ranged firefights allowing it to be balanced for all classes.
The problem is I'm not sure about the other maps.
Helmand Valley
Mazar-I-Sharif airfield
Diwagal camp
Garmzir town
Kabul city ruins
Kandahar marketplace
(not including the two Clean Sweep maps because I don't intend to play them to begin with)

Hmmm more of a realism fan then... Can't help you there, should just play flashpoint 2 or Arma 2 as they are more dedicated PC games, though they lack the 'Twitch' factor i would imagine. Disliking sniping and Vehicles limits possible recommendations unfortunately. I can see why you might like MoH but i would strongly suggest that you avoid it. As an aside You should give Reach a try if you hate vehicles lol. It is common for the MvP to have 30 odd 'Splatter' (roadkill if you are not in with the Halo lingo) kills in the more protracted battles earning them the dubious honour of 'Sunday driver'.

Realism? No. I simply dislike cartoony styles. It's very difficult to do without looking stupid. TF2 is one of the only times I've seen "cartoony" done right, and even then they aren't so much cartoony as stylized.
As for the rest... meh, my experience with Arma 2 leads me to believe a bunch of arseholes end up playing that. I went on their forums asking if there were female models in the game and the thread ended up getting about ten pages of flaming (even after I left after the first page). As for flashpoint, I've never even heard of it.
If it has a demo I might try it out, but for now, I'm holding out for information on Medal of Honor, not other games. So stop draggin' it off topic.

Well it certainly was less buggy than Black Ops. But both have been patched up relitively well on the PC now. You sound as though you will dislike all of the maps that have objectives that you need to push, since those maps take group effort using smoke and call-ins to dislodge the defenders from the shooting lanes. If you get MoH I suggest you play all of the other game modes instead since those will not suffer from the "problem" you identified. However, if you get Black Ops then you will be getting a super speed arcade shooter where running around with two knives and spped perks mean you will get more kills generally than anyone with a gun (if you are good at it).
The choice is yours.

Honestly, being a FPS vet, starting with Half-Life and Counter-Strike over what is it now...10 years or more? Anyway, I've played the Modern Warfare titles (Black Ops aside), MoH (the new one) and BF:BC2. In all honesty, BF: BC2 had the most realistic style of combat. Class specific roles, yes the defib-paddles are a little corny, but it's easier then actually breaking out a med-kit and sitting for an 20-30 mins as you pull out and stich up a bullet wound. So come on, have some kind of give on that. The reason I give BF:BC2 a higher rating then MW2, is because lets face it, NO ONE in full tactical gear can go prone and fire ...and I mean, instantly. I'm in the Army and wear that gear and I know that's bull***t. Not to mention, I can't lean left or right, another horrible idea they took from the console (good job butt holes). The next and finale lynch pin for MW2 is NO DEDICATED servers. Really? WTF?! Aside from those, MW2 is a decent modern day shooter. Now, MoH which I bought and played before coming back to Iraq. Fun, single player's a little on the short side, but definitely longer then Modern Warfare's single player. The multiplayer (from what I noticed) isn't dominated by snipers. Most, actually, use assault rifles, or rather the assault rifle class. As MoH has the same class system that BF:BC2 does, only no medics. The unlocks are the same as BF:BC2, the longer you use a certain class the more weapons and gadgets you unlock and the better your guy gets at doing his job. Granted I prefer to play on Realistic/Hardcore damage servers exclusively, I didn't see any major camping/snipers. I see a fair amount of random grenade spamming and noob tubing but not awhole lot of sniping. But this also depends on the server. The server I was on, the admins had put into place an anti-camping mod where it would slay anyone who was camping in the same spot long then like 3-5 mins. I thought it was good and eliminated camping. Black Ops, I haven't played it myself, but from what many of my friends have told me they've really frowned upon the multiplayer. That it looked kiddy and didn't feel very real and prefer MW2 over Black Ops. I don't know about the single player. There are dedicated servers this time around (thank God), BUT....still can't lean, so again the PC title feels like you're playing a crappy console port. No offense to any console players, I just hate being limited in what I can do in a game because a gamer developer is to lazy to add in more functionality to a system that can make use of alot more bindable keys then just the 14+ buttons and their numerous button combinations that consoles are limited to. It's ridiculous and just shotty developing. Anyways, that's my rant. From my online experience and playing quite a few of the maps, I didn't see alot of sniping wars or counter-strike AWP wars, there are going to be snipers, but most like to use the medium to short range classes versus the long range sniping class. Peace~

Oddly enough, the thing that pisses me off the most.. well, the two things that piss me off the most about Black Ops are its spawner and its lack of console codes.
I want to be able to connect to my friend's server. I want to NOT spawn inside of napalm.
Okay, so it was mostly the multiplayer beta that made it a snipefest then?
That's good... assault rifle heavy I can deal with, I just prefer shotgun myself but an assault/battle rifle is fine too, so I can play all three classes just fine. Guess I'm getting this game for xmas then.

Whelp, found someone that will buy my PS3 for ~200 (gamestop offers 90 bucks for it, feth gamestop), and the games and extra controller for another 50, so I'm probably gonna get medal of honor with that money, if I have enough left over after getting books for next semester.

The only problem I found with the new MoH was its lack of depth.
-The single player campaign was generic and rather boring
-The multi-player only has 9 or so usable weapons
-and (unfortunately) very little people play it.
I'd go with Black Ops personally, the single player had one of the craziest single player stories I played in a while (it was much easier to understand and far more gripping than MW2) and the online play is (thankfully) balanced.
