The gold bases were my wife's idea (because they look like gold coins!). They looked better when these guys were Ultramarines, but I've since converted them.
I can't tell if I need to make the blue darker or not.

Your army is great, but you might want to invest in some modelling sand for basing. If you do this it will improve the whole look of your army. Can’t wait to see it finished. And the blue is dark enough as it is.

Are your bases golden? If they're brown, that paint has gotta be too shiny. Do some sort of basing sand, as Flying Pooo suggested. A good base can do wonders for a model, and really makes or breaks it. There aren't close enough photos to really admire your painting, but the Terminators look a little too patriotic in their red white and blue!

Yeah I was definitely worried about that red white and blue looking too USAish. Hm, maybe I'll do the terminators with red helmets? Or maybe silver.
And yeah, they're gold bases, two of those terminator ones need a second coat, thats what's probably making them look brown. I'm gonna look into some sand too now. Thanks for the suggestions and thanks so much for the feedback!

Nah, just the regular captain from AoBR. I definitely want to replace him with Pedro though once I finish painting the Orks I'm working on. I'm doing the best I can to not buy more models until the ones I have are complete, glossed and matted, based, all that jazz.

Oh and I got three diff types of sand today for basing. One is white, very fine. The next is regular sized sand, will probably look like gravel in proportion. And the last is small pebble sized, to add a few here and there to make each base unique. Each bag is about the size of a soda can. 3 bucks each at walmart. Great deals there, I tell you.

AOBR doesn't have Ultramarine symbols on the models, just this weird cross/skull thing on some shins and the like.

Oh yeah, I forgot that it was the AOBR paint set that came with the plastic Ultras that had those. D'oh!

Actually I did get that paint set to start out with. I carved em off with an exacto. Now to replace them..

I am determined to be able to freehand the crimson fist icon, as the transfers seem to suck even more than their 'instructions.'

Personaly i think the blue isnt dark enough, if i may suggest a asurmen blue wash?
You may want to test it on a old model first, apart from that they look realy good, and the termies helmets need to be red, veterans such as seargents and termies have red helmets.
Oh and your army should only have the left hand painted red, unless the are the first company, then everything has both hands red, but once again thats personal choice. I hope ive been of some help :]
