I have been searching and reading trying to find any chapters that are known for using a high number of Dreadnoughts. I'm not interested in Blood Angels or Space Wolves for the project I am starting, I'm looking for a unique chapter and color scheme for an army based on Dreadnoughts and Scouts. Possibly a Chapter on the mend after losing much of the power armored marines in some tradgedy or epic battle? If there is no existing chapter that fits the bill I will invent my own. Thanks for any help!

Codex BA or Codex Space marines to base the list on?

May I suggest iron hands? They really like Dreads. Have a easy to do black scheme with white, lots of bionics/enhancements so if youre looking for a rather tech-heavy
force the sons of ferrus manus are where its at. Don't like black? There are 2 successor chapters too.

Iron Hands, for sure. Take a master of the forge, and you can take like 6 dreadnoughts

What are the successor chapters for them? I have a large Black Legion army and do not wish to paint any more black...

Rynn's World

Try red and black quarters for the Brazen Claws or all red for the Red Talons. Both are Iron Hand successors.

Thanks guys, more reading to do! I have so much red and black in my CSM and Daemons, I was hoping for something different... might have to go custom chapter. Iron Hands fluff is looking cool so far though...

Mesopotamia. The Kingdom Where we Secretly Reign.

My DIY Chapter is an Iron Hands successor. I only bring it up because you're totally welcome to just make up your own!

Adding extra chapters as successors to one of the original Legions won't get me lynched by fluff bunnies?

Nope.

There should be at least 7 more sucessor chapters to the Iron Hands, other than the 2 mentioned in the fluff.

I'm doing an Iron Hands sucessor Chapter myself.

Havent come up with a name for them yet.

My Color scheme is Dark blue and boltgun and silver.

Sounds most excellent! I've always wanted a green army... and I'm liking the idea of quadrants like the Brazen Claws. Iron Hands successor it is! Now to read and scratch down ideas until something comes together. I'm coming up with some cool conversion ideas given their use of bionics... Thanks again for the feedback!

Are Ironclad Dreadnoughts considered something newer in the Imperium?

Don't be hasty... have you thought about the salamanders? They are green, they have the whole forge thing going on so a MOTF would give you the six dreads, they have Vulcan, who will give you a hell of an advantage with meltas and flamers, they use C:SM and did I mention they're green?

I like Salamanders for sure, but one of my gaming buddies plays them and I do not wish to step on any toes. I have looked at a Vulkan stand in for competitive builds of the army but it's mainly being made for conversions and fun. Thank you though!

no

The list of 'officially noticed' successors is at its bottom marked as incomplete. This chart is in every power-armored codex and thus considered canon.
Having dozens of new foundings ( more than 25 till M41 ) of chapters also helps.

And there are SOOOOOOOOOO many exciting conversion bits available, and becoming avaialbe. Some stuff that is coming out from Maxmini and chapterhouse in the next few months has me drooling on my desk.

THere is an awsome Servo Harness and Conversion Beamer in the weorks from Chapterhouse. Maxmini has a great Bionic biz package available. Throw and Iron Hands box or 2 in there for good measure and you should be golden. Only other mini I really want to get my hands on is the Irn Warriors Warsmith for that wonderful power claw and combi melta.

Or just have your Captain or Chapter Master nicely converted and have him count as Vulkan, which is what I do, and have both.

Fluff is a tool to make your army more interesting, not a straightjacket to stifle your creativity.

Its not out yet. Dakkaite Hits_the_spot, working with ChapterHouse Studios has a bunch of stuff in the works. It's in his thread in the P&M Blogs, and he has another thread in the regular P&M section with some lovely IG stuff that CHS will be making hopefully soon.
