Famously large cat Prince Chunk has died in New Jersey, according to the AP. The white tabby became a media celebrity after the Camden County Animal Shelter took him in two years ago and reported that he weighed 44 pounds, just short of a world record. Prince Chunk made appearances on Good Morning America and Live with Regis and Kelly.

Prince Chunk was adopted by Vince Damiani of Blackwood, New Jersey, who claimed the cat actually weighed 22 pounds when he brought it home from the shelter. The Damiani family later established the Prince Chunk Foundation, a nonprofit organization which helps pet owners keep their animals during times of financial distress. Vince Damiani said that Prince Chunk died in his sleep on Sunday.
