I have found very little difinitive information regarding pre modified armour saves that are better than +1, the rulebook states that a save can never be better than 1+ however as far as I can gather it is not clear if this refers to the roll itself or the absolute cap of the armour save prior to any modification.

So put a different way, if my combined armour save were 0+, would i roll a 2+ on -0,-1 and -2 str mods; or would it cap out before modifiers thus giving 2+ on -0 and -1 str mods?

The best 'roll' for an armour save is a 2+. A one will always mean you've failed. The benefit from having a 0+ armour save however means that even with strength or AP modifiers you can still have that 2+ save.

Actually the line in the faq was ambiguous enough for me to remain unsure. So if as you say the armour save value can be 0+ for the purposes of offsetting strength mod, does it stop there? Is there any absolute cap on armour save beyond what is acheivable with item/mount/special rule combinations?

Yes, the absolute cap is 1+, with a roll of a 1 always failing.

The days of 0+, -1 or -2 armour saves are gone.

So basically there are no rules to cover this... currently.

Please excuse me for being thorough but unless I am mistaken there are several replies saying different things. Anyone care to convince me a little? Would be greatly appreceated, I am not here to argue the point either way I would just like to have it right :3

Well the BRB says the save can never be better than 1+, the FAQ says it can be improved beyound that but never explains what the beneftis are, so currently your save dosen't beneftit from any upgrades that make it better than 1+.

Ah gocha, this is what I had assumed infact, but I am getting lots of conflicting information which I must now assume is from earlier editions.

While your armour can, in theory, take you above a 1+ save, your save NEVER counts as better than 1+ at any point - so a "-2" save will still be a 3+ save against S5 attacks, same as a 1+ save.

Yes 1+ is the absolute best possible armor save, if you have something giving you an additional +2 to this for instance then get a -2 modifier from somewhere your armor save would be 3+, and a roll of 1 is always a failure.

What about Juggernoughts?

their rules specifically say that your Maximum is a 0+ save.

I'm not sure about demons, but WoC juggernauts have no such rule, only that you add +3 to your armour save for being mounted rather than +1.

If we were to play each other in a tournament, not only would I table you, I would murder you, your family, every woman you ever loved and burn down your house. I mean, what's the point in winning if you allow people that don't take the game seriously to live?

As above - not sure where you got the 0+ from....

Just for fun, the Eye of the Gods table says you can max your armor save out at 0+ with the Iron Hard Skin roll. You might have been thinking of that, Grey Templar.
