I don't see anyone using Lysander other than Imperial Fists players.

Unlike Vulcan, Telion, Kantor & Shrike that I see used in lots of armies as 'counts as' special characters, Lysander seems to crop up only very occupationally for people that like his fluff.

Lysander's Chapter Tactics substitute isnt as good as the other ones, and his unit buff ability will likely never be used, since you always wanna stick him in a squad of assault terminators and a raider. Kantor grants Stubborn AND Hold the Line, whereas Lysander only gives you Stubborn.

Lysander fits nicely into a sternguard squad.
He can go into a drop pod and add seriously to the units effective firepower.
I've seen him used to good effect in a Kantor/Sterguard list

He is, point for point, the most effective single model in the codex for close combat. There are few units in 40k that can survive his MCed Str 10 AP 1 thunderhammer, or take out his four 2+/3++ eternal warrior wounds. On his own he is a beast.

His unit/army buffs are less then stellar though. Aside from facing a psyker battle squad (or whatever lowers your LD to 2) I would rather have combat tactics then stubborn. Marines don't need stubborn with ATSKNF.

All SC are vunerable to being mobbed, thats just the nature of a SC. The only SC less vunerable than Lysander to being mobbed is Sicurus with his 2+ and FNP

Sicarius deserves to be mobbed.
What i meant was he is too hard to take with other characters so mobbing or a ridculous amount of firepower is the only way to take him.

That just isn't true. A Scout with 2 CCWs fits that description, mostly by being ten times cheaper.
