In Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, on page 235, you'll find the quote

Though my guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire. - The Tyrant of Badab

...whereas in IA9, on page 51, you have

"Though my guards may sleep and my ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that the big guns never tire" - The Tyrant of Badab, Atrib 909.M41

So, which version is correct? Do you believe in old fluff or new? Tired or rejuvented? Timeless or tackified? Original or reimagined? Classic or new great taste? GW or Forge World?

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

Both quotes are identical.
Mostly newer fluff takes precedent over older fluff.
Some of the older fluff was better some of it not.
And i think GW beats IA in fluff but they tend to avoid each other so go figure.

The fluff is not identical, or I'd not have bothered posting.

The first difference is very minor - "ships" or "my ships"

The second is "big guns never tire" or "the big guns never tire".

That evokes very different images to me. "Big guns never tire" is a fairly general statement about the nature of big guns, whoever they may belong to and wherever you may find them. In IA, they change it to "The Big Guns," which I feel evokes the idea of a particular group of Big Guns, like The Guns of Navarone, for example. It is a more romantic image, and conjures up a lot more narrative for me. I prefer the second quote, but I am normally wth Magnus Magnusson, as in, I'll take your first answer. As such, unless some fluff in RT has been explicitly altered, such as Leman Russ being a Primarach, rather than a mere human born in M32 in the Guranta D Gurantan system, who founded the Spacewolves, I'll take the RT version of the fluff. I just don't want to this time :(

Ahh fir enough the quotes are different.
I suppose the 'my' thing relates the them being his ships him being a tyrant and all.
And 'the' would imply guns other than his.
Yeah unless fluff actually gets changed it is still valid.

I think the grammar of the first one is slightly more poetic sounding.

Ask yourself: have you rated a gallery image today?

It does flow sllightly better, I guess.
