Inspired by the new Dark Eldar Codex I had the idea for a Chaos themed Sisters army that substitute the DE pain tokens in place of their normal faith points. I was thinking of Repentia starting with a pain token and normal faithful units being able to earn tokens for each enemy unit purged. What do you guys think? Could this work and if so, how would you adjust the rules to make them fit?

Let me know if you like the idea and please feel free to posit your ideas for this home brew ruleset.

I thought the whole point of Sisters of Battle was that they never (eeeeeever) turn to Chaos?

admittedly my fluff knowledge isn't great so i'm happy to be proved wrong.

I thought that they just took longer to and as they only live a humans life they don't have time.

You cannot create a Chaos Sisters of Battle army without tearing down their fluff to raise your army up. This is always a bad thing. The closest you're likely to get is a bunch of Red Redemptionist SoB wannabes that got their hands on some PDF or black market equipment. At best, they're going to have (4+) carapace armour.

There are a couple of obvious ways that the Sisters of Pain could have misinterpreted the SoB worldview that could have lead to their fall to chaos:

- By becoming too focused on the destruction of others for its own sake and neglecting the why, they might have fallen to Khorne.
- By mistaking self-sacrifice (risking harm to themselves to achieve a goal) for self-harm (risking harm to themselves for its own sake), your Sisters of Pain might have fallen to Slaanesh.

So pretty out there, IMO. But Doctor Thunder's Chaos Femarines didn't end all time and space so your Chaos Sisters, while totally missing the point of SoBs, should be okay.

@Praxiss- So far there has only one sister to have fallen as far as I know of but that wasn't really the point of this thread. This is in the proposed rules forum because I am looking for the best ways to incorporate the DE pain token rules into the witch hunter codex. They would replace the faith point system but the rest of the equipment would stay the same(except for replacing every instance of the word holy with unholy and replacing "the emperor" with "the warp" or" chaos".

As far as fluff goes, that should be handled in a seperate thread in the 40k background forum. My personal feeling is that the Sisters of Pain(looking for possible better name) don't even to have to be fallen
sisters, they could just be fallen female psykers that one of the chaos gods have organized into a mockery of the SoB.

I ask everyone to please remember that this is the proposed rules forum and that this is just an idea for what I feel would be an interesting home brew army. If you don't like the idea that's ok but I am looking for input on how to best integrate the rules mentioned..........not a protracted discussion on the plausibility of fallen sisters.

Can I just ask: why Sisters of Pain?

@Manchu- The answer is simple, "Sisters" using "Pain" tokens in place of faith points. I admit that a better name might be out there but SoP is simple, gets the points across and fits the" bondage" nuns vibe that the sisters currently have. I came up with this idea when considering if the pain token system was a forshadowing of a possible streamlined mechanic that can replace the current very cumbersome faith points system.

Now, any suggestions on how to tweak the interogators(inquisitors) to fit in this home brew? Currently the Battle sisters, sisters repentia, arco-flagellents and penitent engines fit nicely with the theme. Changing the inquisitors to interogators will work but am trying to decide what to replace the storm troopers with.

Right, the reason I ask is because fluff does matter to rules. You write rules to express fluff concepts. I suspect you chose Sisters for more reasons than them having faith points. Before knocking out some rules (except just switching X for Y among existing armies) you might consider banging out a more coherent idea of what this army is really about. Fallen Sisters? Rogue psykers? Lady Gaga clones? Who are they and where did they come from and what do they want?

Wait, instead of chaos SoB why not just have an army of women who worship chaos? I mean the only thing that seperates SoB from IG is devotion and equipment, equipment to the chaos legions isnt THAT hard to get ahold of, I mean the traitor legions are able to resupply fairly easily, and chaos cultists dont seem to lack int he devotion department.

That's exactly my point. You could have Chaos'd-up Guadsmen models with fluff making them out to be Slaaneshi daemon-worshipers and rules with them using Dark Eldar Pain Tokens to pay for Witch Hunter Faith Powers. OP indicates Chaos-themed Sisters army but ff has since said they don't need to be Sisters. It's not that we need to go back to the drawing board; it's that we need to go to the drawing board in the first place.

I think the idea is that they were once just a female chaos warband (which is a great idea) that have modeled themselves on the Sisters of Battle to mock their devotion. I love the idea!

Give the units similar names, mock the Sisters iconography and make it clear these evil, twisted female mercs are out to show the Sisters that bad girls are better than nuns.

See that would actually be a fun project, too bad SoB models are all metals and would therefore cost a fortune and be a nightmare to do any kind of conversion/modelling thing for.

Lunarman has the idea. A force that uses the same equipment and similar army composition but with unit names and iconography that is a direct mockery of the inquisition and faithful sisters.

As far as converting the models go, if it is going to be extensive I actually prefer to work with pewter. The look I am currently thinking of for the army will mix in a little bit of "Mord Sith" from "Legend of the Seeker" for the battle sister models and converting the female inquisitor/ "Interogator" to look like a french courtesean. It will be a bit before I can gather enoigh models to start converting, so until then a friend is going to let me use his Sisters/Witch Hunters to playtest the rules.

ive seen many people make a chaos sisters army, one at my local gw regularly runs one. Our gw employee said it wasnt impossible, but that it worked, even helped him write a bit of story for them. Now when i tried to make chaos Grey knights... then the whole store turned on me... *pets model* our time will come...


ended up chaos marines killed grey knights and stole there equipment
