Hey guys,

I've started a 500 point Eldar list and, as usual during lectures, today I was daydreaming about just what kind of art/symbology to give them.

It was spawned out of concerns about how to paint my Farseer: My colourscheme is basically Saim-Hann's but with yellow replacing the white and the guns being purpley blue. I was worried about how to properly implement yellow and red onto robes without it looking silly when I decided I should just use trims and symbols... suddenly something clicked and I came out with some very obvious rip-offs:

I decided upon a nature theme: This has made me decide that the Craftworld will be dedicated to preservation and protection of the Eldar's greatest legacy... the Maiden Worlds (yes, they're hippies). So I decided to make symbology revolve around trees.

This is what would take the place of normal craftworld symbols... I'll probably place it on the back of the Farseer's cloak and on my Wave Serpent on each side. The heart represents the same as Biel-Tan's icon; that of rebirth. The tree is... a tree... tying in to a maiden world The triangle just makes it look more "Eldarish".

This is a total rip-off, again, of Biel-Tan. I thought "hey those thorns look pretty cool... how can I make them all naturish? OOOH, replace the thorns with leaves!" Again, hippy Eldar... I'll use this as the trim for cloak interiors (so depending on how I swing it may be red on yellow) and on my vehicles.

I'll post more ideas as I get them... what do you guys think of these crudely-drawn symbols?

I like it.
Maybe remove the fluffy part from the tree and make it more of a column so it symbolises a tree rather than is a tree, 'cos IMO it would look more Eldary.
You could keep the heart and have a thin yellow outlne round it still.

The tree could be more leaf shaped ie like the Eldar headgear.

Not entirely sure about the heart tbh

Hearts are the best no matter what army you're playing, I use them on my CSM.

The vines would look pretty awesome on vehicle hulls I'd imagine.

Nice.
For the tree i would personally suggest something more like the trees on the shields of the warriors of gondor from tLotR. So thiner trunk with clearly visible branches and small leaves along those branches.
The vines will look awesome on the Eldar vehicles!

Oooh Kizzdougs, that would look much better...

But darn it, painting that on all my minis would be so much harder than just splodging down five circles and adding a trunk I'll have to experiment on some paper methinks.

And Chibi, if Biel-Tan (the best craftworld y'all) can wear hearts, then so can I

I'm not sure what you mean by symbolising a tree, Purple? Wouldn't it just look like a trunk?

haha the leaves was a great idea too, even if it seems a bit beardy to snipe the thorns!

i would leave the thorns. Leaves sybolize the beauty, but the Thorns, the vengence of the Craftworld.

I think this would look pretty good.

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it.
