Subject: IC with grenades charging into cover with a unit without them

Played a game last weekend and ran into a rules question.
A unit in cover was charged. The charging unit did not have grenades, but the charging unit contained an IC that did have grenades. Does the charging unit get the benifit of the IC's grenades?
Thanks!

The models with grenades do not suffer the penalty, but the models without grenades suffer it.

True, refer to page 36 BRB bottom of the page. It is the models equipped with the grenades, not the unit.

Because of this rule and the fact that if 2 squads charge, 1 with grenades and 1 without, the ones without strike at I1, it helps to ignore GW's fluff.
Don't think of grenades working to make the defenders duck behind cover. Just imagine that the assaulting squads are using grenades to clear a path just wide enough for them to cleanly charge through. (And they still take a difficult terrain test to represent the time lost lobbing grenades at rocks)
