Hi everyone. Just returning to gaming after a few years off. Was leary of mkll but it seems smoother so far. So I've dusted off the old cryx and been looking at the newer stuff to add to my collection. Now I love slaughterborn, and the bloodgorgers the models are awsome and they rules seem good. What do you guys think? Are they worth the investment in both cash and points?

They seem to be a good tarpit / killing unit. 2 attacks with descent mat and gang. They also have tough and are fearless.

Slaughterborn is an excellent solo and helps keep them moving, because he prevents knockdown. On the min side: they are not undead. And they are a bit slower then other options we have. (except on charge).

In the end it is an asthetics thing I think. I do not think they fit with my current lists, but maybe when I make a venethrax list they will fit in...

Slaughterborn is a very strong solo. He's a killing machine, and he does a good job helping the Gorgers keep moving forward, due to "No sleeping on the job".

They aren't undead, but they are fearless, so that's close enough, and they're medium bases so they can block charge lanes, and can't be trampled over.

A solid unit, without a doubt, and a solid solo.

Slaughterborn is an infantry lawnmower with just a little help in any department.

If you take Gorgers, he should be in the list.
Though it's not so the other way around.

Gorgers are cool because they are a unit on medium bases which can block line of sight to medium based casters and with No KD Tough when Gerlik is around, it's a nice screen if you need it and are hot on tough rolls.

Else, they do need help getting through terrain and some way to improve hitting or damage if they go after anything really tough.

Gang is nice, but medium bases are sort of the balancer to it. The gorgers are there to primarily take out light and medium infantry, and with buffs/debuffs can take on harder stuff as said (assuming Gang is in effect).

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

I have always had fun with them.

If you take Gorgers, you take Slaughterborn for sure. No Knockdown is too great.

They are great against infantry with Gang + overtake and two base attacks, which surprisingly no one has mentioned yet.

Charge a unit @ 10 inch charge range, kill a model overtake an inch and hit another model, most likely killing it.

I love to take a unit with pDenny, with her debuffs and feat + gang you can drop heavies all day long with them.

Also, Slaughterborn will regularly eat entire units, and if you sit him behind or inside a unit of Bloodgorgers, he is protected untill you decide to use him. People will try to kill slaughterborn, but if you protect him, he is a lot more dangerous.

I also love using Gorgers with the General with Venethrax.

Use the Skarlock to cast Soul Harvester on the Gorgers. Send them at a squishy unit yeilding Venethrax a load of soul.

Activate Venny, Soul Harvester Slaughterborn, and put puppet strings on him. Have him charge a unit, and laugh as the following turn Venethrax will be sitting on 15+ focus.

If you have an arc node you pretty much guaranteed win.

Gerlock Alone works well if you run, terminius during his feat trurn as Gerlock can kill spree a ton of enemy models for Terminius to absorbe.

Also he makes a great gaurd dog with egore/Epic Goreshade with suden death cast on him.

Hope is a moment now long Past.
The shadow of death is the one I cast.

I don't have Slaughterborn but I have a unit of Bloodgorgers. They're a good unit, they're very difficult to kill. I still need to get round to fielding them and Boomhowler in the same army, my Cryx 'more Trolls than Trolls' army.

Bloodgorgers are the premiere anti-infantry unit in Cryx, and by extension so is Gerlak.

People are correct in saying that if you have the gorgers, you bring Gerlak, but not necessarily the other way around. There are many lists that I find I can fit Gerlak into just on his own.

Q: How many of a specific demographic group are required to carry out a simple task?
A: An arbitrary number. One to carry out the task in question, and the remainder to act in a manner stereotypical of the group.

I run a full 20 Bloodgorgers and Slaughterborn in my Tier 4 Venethrax Theme Force and they do rather well. Nothing exceedingly special really, except for the occasional uber Killing Spree from Gerlak. Mostly their job is simply to get in the way, tie some stuff up, and get some early game Souls for the boss man so he's powered up when he hits the front line, and they do that job really well.

Would you guys run them with ether pSkarre or eGaspy? Im guessing not as much with gaspy perfering the bane knights and thralls. And how about pDeny? Seems they could be nasty with her.

For denny they only get better with her debuffs affecting the enemy. pGaspy and pskarre can boost their strength (skarre on feat, gaspy with scything touch) and pskarre can also help them hit a lot (dark guidance). I think they can work with her.

Only problem I have with them is that I do not like their models. The rules are excellent. Maybe I will try to get a hold of alternative models... maybe...

Gerlack can be used with anyone. He is great in every single list, and one of the best solos around. He might be my only cryx auto include.

Just picked up Slaughterborn. I'll see how he plays in a couple of weeks.
