I know there's room for improvement, that's why I put this list up here-For any advice. I know I need a Librarian, And I plan to get a Land Raider sometime, any ideas/criticisms?
I keep on getting mauled by this chaos collector, so any ideas for that are much appreciated

Now I don't play Marines...so I'd take my advice with a pinch of salt.

- Tactical squads need transports. Rhino's would do nicely!

- I wouldn't bother with a Chapter Master, he's quite expensive. If you really want to use that model, I'd opt for a Captain and tone down the wargear a bit too. Save some points! Need to decide which squad he is going to join as well!

- Don't quote me on this, but I'm not sure you can take both an Assault Cannon and a Cyclone ML in a 5 man Terminator squad? Need to check the codex on that one.

- I'd recommend putting your two Assault Squads together to form one big squad. Less likely to get shredded in combat that way!

- In Devastator squads, it would seem to be the norm to use all the same heavy weapons, so they all have the same range, and are built to serve a purpose (anti-infantry / anti-tank etc.) Not exactly the end of the world though - its not like you are combining Heavy Bolters and Lascannons!

What might be useful is if you list all the models you've got?

People might be able to suggest what you should buy next as well.

Chapter masters are really helpful, considering they have Orbital Bombardment, and can have honour guard (Which I want to get while eliminating other things)

And these are basically all I have, besides a useless scout squad

1) If you really want to use the chapter master, that's fine, but if you're going to be losing the +1 attack from a second weapon anyway you should prolly give him a TH, LC, PF, or Rune blade. The power sword is kind of a waste on a guy like that. Drop the digital weapons, they're meh at best.

2) Tactical marines need to be mobile... 6" is not mobile Give them rhino's razor backs, or drop pods (i suggest rhinos btw)

3) you can only take 1 special weapon per 5 guys in a terminator squad, and you should take 2 chainfists (pretty much guarantees a destroyed tank)

4) Assault squads are okay, but they do need more bodies. Combine them into one squad, and you'll actually save yourself some points in the deal.

5) the storm bolter on the pred might not be such a great idea. It makes you more durable, and more shooty at and under 24", but you may have better places to put 10 points imho.

6) The relative weakness of devastators aside, this squad is all over the place. Devs are best when they are focused. This means 1 weapon type so that whenever you fire, all of your squad stays relevant.

What happens if your target is over 36" away? then the points you spent on that plasma cannon go to waste. What if you're firing at hordes? Then your LasCannon does less than the rest, what happens when you fire at tanks? Depending on the AV, your weapons will not have equal effectiveness and therefore be much harder to use.

Wait, what's this +1 attack? Never heard of this, despite flicking through the rulebook many a time

He's referring to the +1 attack that you get from having two Close Combat weapons.

You don't get one when using a storm shield, so you might as well use a two handed weapon like a Relic Blade or a Thunder Hammer.

Though I'd just as soon say that if you're going to use a Chapter Master at least make it Kantor or Calgar and get a better unit out of the deal.

I would have suggested this, but his guy is going to be better than Kantor at CC, or at least surviving it, and that's what he seems to be going for.

On the whole, I'd agree that Kantor is a much better buy.

And another thing, if you're trying to be fluffy, honour guard are awesome. In a competitive sense though, terminators are better, although that standard that honour guard carry is pretty awesome

I would drop the heavy bolter on the tactical squad. They are not that impressive with only 1. I would give them a ML or maybe a plasma cannon.

Because the devastators are only a 5 man unit, keep them armed relatively similar (ex, 4 ML's or 3 ML's and 1 lascannon). If they were a 10 man squad you could afford to mix match more because of combat squadding.

I would drop the rhino on the devastators and give it to a tactical squad. Drop the HK missle from it. I like to keep them cheap. The only upgrade I give rhinos are dozer blades to drive into terrain and take objectives.

For the HQ, if you are paying that many points you may as well play a special character. He definitely needs to be toned down. If you are very adamant about using a CM, then maybe just give him a Relic Blade. Cheaper and more effective in combat. IMO, if you want a combat character a captain w/ a relic blade and SS is cheaper. I have also heard good things about JP chaplains and assault squads.

I also agree with combining the Assault squads. Consider flamers for them and drop those combat shields.

Don't say you NEED a librarian. They are very good for all comer lists. You can get by without them though. I do it all the time. I figure that I already have Vulkan, I can't afford the other HQ. However at 2500 I run a libby.

That's the whole problem, he doesn't seem to fit anywhere in this list. He doesn't have TDA or a Jump Pack, and one chapter master isn't brutal enough to defend the entire gunline.

It is fluffy though, which I like. I like to run a demi-company now and then myself! Actually, if you could talk yourself into putting Shrike in to run with your assault squad and give everybody fleet you could do some damage, and it wouldn't require anything but a jump pack and some LCs on your captain.
