When I play i love to tank shock and ram, but in one game we were having an argument about whether my opponents grey hunter were dead or not. I was play tau and i had smashed my devil fish into his rhino and crushing a squad in between, we weren't sure how far you could move to avoid a tank shock. Someone said that you could move 1" to get away so thats what we did and it ended with his whole squad within 2" of my tank does this mean that the grey hunters are dead or does he get to move them totally out of range of my tank? plzzzz help?

2nd to last paragraph on page 68 of BGB.
There is no restriction as to how far a model moves to get out of the way of the tank. You simply have to go the shortest distance possible. That can be 1", 5", or 60".

There is no actual limit on the distance they are allowed to move when getting out from under the vehicle. Only that they must move the shortest amount to get out from under it.

There is no restriction on the direction of their movement either. The unit(s) under the tank must move out from under it--the shortest possible route. If that is straight through part of the tank (or even the entire length of the thing), then they do so.

Just to clarify even more - the only time a tank shock can kill a model is if that model chooses to Death or Glory and fails to stop the tank. No other model can be harmed.

This is correct. It is in the FAQ that GW posted up.
I sort of think of it like a video game. You know that sometimes you play a game and two characters sort of get stuck in the same spot so the game "glitches" out and one of the characters just sort of pops out? It's like that.

And, that wins comment of the week award.

Things like the deff-rolla CAUSE wounds when a tank shock occurs. The tank shock is still not killing models (that did not DoG).

And, there is the somewhat ridiculous (although possible) situation where the board is so small, and the armies so large that the entire board is covered wall-to-wall with models.
Then, you tank shock onto the board from reserves. The models that have to be moved out of the way have no where to go, so I'd call them destroyed.

On the imaginary board on which every possible position was either impassible terrain or occupied by a model, the tank shocked model would by necessity be moved an imaginary distance, and still not be destroyed.
Or, you must certainly be playing Apocalypse and should just make something up.

Lol. You say that 60" is an absurd distance to be moved for a tank shock. I say you didn't see the size of that tank.
