I was reading the bloodthirster model description on GW's website and it says it comes with a varient head and body. I don't recall having any extra bits in the kit I bought two years ago. Did they add another head and body to the kit since then?

The current boxset of the Blood Thirster comes with two variant heads, one with a snarling demon face and the other with a roaring bestial head. Prior to the Chaos Daemon Update before the 5th edition, the Bloodthirster boxset only came with the bestial head. In 3rd ed/early 4th ed the Bloodthirster came with the snarling daemon head. Check the packaging of the Bloodthirster you bought. If it does not match the current BT box, then you bought an earlier edition without the extra head.

This is one:

This is the other:

The bodies are fairly similar, just different sculpts so that the different heads fit.

And the weapons are all like the second one, I switched the first as a conversion, that's not part of the difference.

The bodies are the same. The only difference is the head.

The bodies are not the same. They are very similar, but they have distinct differences if you pay attention.

hmm, the ones I own have identical torsos but different heads, but they fit together pretty well.

Thanks everyone for the replies. The box I had was labeled "chaos" not "chaos demons" so it's the old one that is the current sculpt but doesn't included the extra bits in the box. It's strange to see GW adding extra bits to an existing kit, I thought the were grinches.
