So I now have a battlesuit commander and I gave him a burst cannon and airbust fragmentation launcher and also a shield generator. Then (as he is a commander) I wanted to give him items from the extra wargear list (like all the hardwired items) but I was wondering how many of these I could give him as it doesnt state it in the rulebook.
And one more thing with tau vehicles. It says only 1 of each upgrade may be taken per vehicle and I cant seem to interpret what that means. So does it mean i can, for instance, give flechette dischargers to only one vehicle or to as many vehicles I like and also i can give 2 vehicle upgrades to 1 vehicle?
Thanks

Your commander may have 3 hardpoints and unlimited hard wired upgrades. It does not give a limit becuase there is not one (except for hard points)
Vehicles it is one of a particular upgrade per 1 vehicle. So each tank can have the same gear, just cannot double dip on a single tank.

Weapons are always hard points if I recall correctly. There are no hard wired weapons. You can have AT MOST 3 weapons on a suit. That is usually not the way to go however. Usually you do two weapons and something else or a weapon and a TL weapon (counts as two hard points.)

Does the Tau book not have the 100pt wargear limit for characters that other 'dex's have?

It does, although the limit only applies to Wargear, not to Weapon or Support System options.

Any battlesuit must use , no more and no less of, their three hardpoints*. Some have access to the wargear, and in that case, they can spend up to 100 points on wargear.
Vehicles can get all of what they have access to in the Vehicle Upgrade Section, the only restriction being that some vehicles can't access everything. For example, skyrays can't get extra seeker missiles.
*A hard point is only used on weapons and support systems.
I hope that clears up any confusion about wargear and upgrades.

Remember that an infantry model can only fire one weapon each turn (barring some special rule which Tau do not have). So three weapons is generally not desirable.

Well, the multi tracker lets them fire two weapons at once.
I actually like the Missile Pod, Plasma, Fusion load out for a Shas ' El with a hard wired Multi Tracker. Long range transport popping moves to Plasma & Missile Shots, which moves to rapid fire plasma and fusion shots.

That's what I get for not checking my Tau codex before posting. Regardless, three different weapon is wasteful.

Three weapons isnt that bad always.
As long as the third is something short range like a flamer or fusion blaster.
Gives you killy versatility that many things in the game can't get.
