Hello, I am still a newbie when it comes to playing warhammer 40k, and I have have made this posts so that I, and others can get tips and suggestions from more experienced tyranid players, and for those more experienced players post army lists and their main strategies and uses for the different tyranid units. And finally, what are the basics that new tyranid players need to remember, such as synapse, instinctive behavior, and all the other rules which all tyranid players need to abide by, and thank you for participating in this thread.

That link is how I do it.

my advice is to play around with lists and see what you like. get a feel for for the army and what units work best for ya.took me a long time to find the units and strategy that worked best.
Take advice from others and build on it try not to let yourself follow exactly what others do haa be your own hive fleet with your own flair

ps... i despise tyrnaids they ruin my day every day...fecking brood lord..... genestealers and that damn rending

I am not a very good tyranid player, but I am beginning to understand a few things:

1: You need synapse. Find some, and make shure it is good. In short warriors are very bad because moast armies have a high S to take out tanks. VS warriors it instant kills them. Warriors are cool, but not good. The hive tyrant is very good, although a point sink (he needs ether a gargoyle screen although still a bit flaky, or tyrant guards.) Cheaper options are the trevigon. Expensive as hell but it is a troop MC, and with a lott of gaunts in front of it he is very very good. (You do not want to charge counter attack poisened gaunts.) Zoanthropes can mensions, but moastly they will eather provide zynapse and not shoot very mutch, or get poded and shoot a lott but not provide synapse. It is posible shrieks also can work well in a fast moving force since they will not get shot at once in close combat.

2: You need Anti tanks. Everything else is meched up, you need anti tanks. I have tryed 2 tyranofexes at 1750 but you really do not need more then one. (A pitty since I have painted both.) However, Hive Guards are very very very good. They have str 8, long range and they do not care about cover. I do not care about the other elites. I love the other elites, yes they are good, but you list needs to knock down transports and landspeeders from round one. Just trust me on this one. I am not saying all 3 elite slots have to go, but at least one unit of 3 or 2 of 2 is mandatory at 1750.

3: He will shoot you down, do not let him get the time to do it. You need units that attack fast. Gargoyles and the two wurms come to mind. As does the flyrant. Make shure you fight on your terms.

Those are the 3 big things to keep in mind. (Mind you I am still comming to terms with it.) There are other good lists out there as well. If you spam BIG units of carnifexes he will not have the time to shoot them all down, so that can be a good strategy. In short you should then spam carnifexes, treigons and hive tyrants. Perhaps some venomthropes for cover saves and of course hive guards to take out transports.

You can also spam loads of smaller units (a gargoyle for 6 points is very hard to meet if you do not have many template\ blast attacks in your army.) Same geos for all the little guys.

On a last note, yes stealers rock. But only if you get his transports open. Fighting them opem in melle can be done, but I lose a lott of genestealers to the explotions.

On a last note, a lott of your units can produse a big pie plate. That is cool, and is something you can focus on (unles you meet mech listst.)

Target Priority. There was an Ork Player here that taught me that. His Avatar is a cat wearing a melon for a hat. His Username is DashOfPepper.

To sum it up, you want to make it so that no matter what your opponent shoots at, it won't hamper your army much, and your plans can still be carried out as usual. In a sense, no linchpins. Only units with tactical flexablility, and no unit more important than another.

This is a little less possible with nids, as their Synapse is often their achilles heel.

+1 Str for like 5 points? To autocannons or assault cannons? Hell yea. Then the Reinforced Aegis upgrade for free AND the ability to ignore stunned shaken.. pretty much for free..
Other Dreadnaughts should just go somewhere and be a toaster.

Mattieu~~~~ It's not that eldar are bad, it's that they require a lot of intergration between units. Also, that doesnt prove anything other than GW has a huge hard-on for marines, and, given the option between making a xeno the best psykers or making a marine the best psyker, they will 9 times out of 10 choose the marine.
