Me and My brother (csm and tyranids) and going up against my friend Dave's Blood Angels army. 3000 points a side. I'm really really excited to finally play a game this size.

Anyone have any tips for a first time Apocalypse player? Want to share any worthwhile tactics or strategic bits? Any cool Apocalypse stories?

I'd say that there are pretty much no tactics in apocalypse. It is probably one of the most (if not the most) crazy expansion you'll play with the possible exception of planetstike. I think the only thing you should think if is target priority.

Super heavies probably are the most important thing to take down early on but seeing as its 3000pts a side your unlikly to encounter them.

Formation probably come next as most offer powerful buffs to the units it covers.

The choose your targets like in a normal game. If you going assaulty you may want to check out assets like flank march which allows you to appear on one of your opponents flanks instead of your board edge when coming in from reserve. If your deep strike heavy, careful planning allows you to start your strategic reserves coming in a turn earlier than usual. Vortex grenades are always funny but those are just a few suggestions. I suggest you have a good look at the strigiums in the book (pg.187-189).
